Okay I LOVED this one!! In this coming-of-age novel, we follow Amber as she grows up and finds herself in the spotlight as a pop star

Banta's phenomenal writing kept me engaged—but the plot is straightforward. A very Britney/Christina inspired story. Will definitely read her next book though.

had Lucky by Britney Spears on loop while reading this

the target audience is me and everyone else who didn't get it is wrong (joking obviously)

I didn't expect this to make me cry in the middle of the night?? wild

much like Blob by Maggie Su, this is a love story. not romance (even though there is some) but of finding love for yourself. That'll always resonate to me

**
I read reviews before starting the book and some comments that stuck out to me were baffling because its soooo tame. porno? no lol. MC is a narcissist? lmfao huh??
I'll give you the song lyrics, they be a little cringe and simple. and I usually don't care for them in books either but it's like a couple pages out of so many pages so it didn't really bother me at all. I mean the book is about music, why wouldn't there be lyrics?

The MC is still in her 20s when the book ends and I think she's mostly got it figured out and even if she didn't, she should still be allowed the room to figure herself out

happy for her

I'll be picking up Banta's next book
