I really enjoyed this story more than I thought! 👻🦋 I came across this book by chance and went in blind, but it really was an interesting read that kept me going (when I actually had the time to sit down and read). Cara can see/speak to ghosts and one of those ghosts ends up being her nemesis (thanks to an incident that causes him to become a ghost). Zach annoys Cara to her core, but once they have to work together to save Zach, many obstacles arise and put their newfound relationship to the test. The ending was really good, but the epilogue makes it seem as if something more may be on the horizon 😱 Maybe just maybe 😏

Ngl I kinda hated this one. Could not stand the male mc. The ending where we're supposed to swoon over him dumping beer on his friend for congratulating him on getting with an Asian girl instead of questioning his judgement for being friends with him in the first place was just the cherry on top of a whole sundae of red flags for me. I'm sure lots of kids will love this one though so y'know. There's that.

A great premise for a ya book. Just not memorable for me. The Chinese aspects of course resonated with me but that does not define a great book. For non-Chinese people it may be novel and new. The romance was youthful and enjoyable. I'm also glad this is a standalone. It's like finally someone understood that you don't have to make multiple books.

A little young for my tastes, but overall a cut story.

I have seen mixed reviews about this book with quite a lot of 3⭐ reviews.
I quite liked it, the story was good and the hate to love trope wasn't bad but it did just seem to come out of nowhere when their opinions of each other changed. The FMC could be a bit annoying at times but not so much that I wanted to stop reading. It was a good book but not a great book in my opinion.
