emotional reflective medium-paced

Bought more audiobook hours on Spotify just to finish this. Comprehensively reflective, but repetitive in ideas towards the end and I struggled to see the thread that wove through. From my perspective, it was more autobiographic than memoir.

slow-paced

I love Top Chef and Kristen Kish, but I feel like part of this memoir was very slow. I think it could have been edited down in parts, and more serial given in others. No shade to the author herself, but at barely 40, there is still (hopefully) a lot to say. I admire that she has found her voice and seems to use it well.  I might have enjoyed this more if it were on audio narrated by the author.

i didn't know anything about kristen kish going into this, and i found it a little difficult to stay engaged in the first 70-80 pages. i did start to enjoy it more, though, and there are some excellent stories in here about finding your community.

note to self: i've tagged this as "adoption" but it is not really about adoption.
