I loved learning more about Kristen's life outside of seeing her on TV. I cried multiple times and am grateful that she decided to let people into her world.

This ended up being a really nice read. The writing is very simple and to the point, but it lends to the conversational nature of this memoir. I found the story most compelling once we reached her adulthood. I love cooking competition shows so the behind the scenes stories of that really interested me. It is not a memoir where the subject goes super deep into their emotions, but she is still quite young, so for where she is in her life, it felt like a fair amount of sharing. A fun read if you're interested in that culinary world. Not a ground breaking memoir though.

While I love Kristen, this book was sooooo slow and I don't think I really learned anything. In an attempt to not be offensive to anyone, the details were so glossed over as to be diengenuous.

I adore Kristin Kish! I think she's a fabulous host on Top Chef and have enjoyed her hosting other shows as well. However, this book reads like a promotion she was forced to write (or tell to a ghostwriter, I assume) to promote her shows. She doesn't seem to have a point of view in this book or a reason she's sharing her life. And she doesn't really share anything interesting about her life. She has had many interesting journeys and experiences, but they come off as bland and uninteresting without any emotional backstory behind them. People should wait to write a memoir until they have something important to say. In the meantime, I'll keep watching Top Chef and loving her as host!
