While the narration was fine (read by the author), I couldn't find myself caring enough to know how Kish got past so many obstacles early in her life to get to where she is today. She is very honest in how she ended up getting into drugs and alcohol once she moved away from home, and I appreciated this honesty. However, this just could not hold my attention enough to get to more of what I assume will be positive experiences & reflection.

This was so fun to read. I’ve been a fan of Kristen Kish ever since I saw her on top chef so getting to hear her story from her was such a cool inspiring experience. I feel like her personality and her perspective really came through this entire book. There was humor and bluntness and just something unique in the writing that made this special. I loved reading about her childhood and growing up as well as her culinary experiences. I had less interest in her relationships and her tv career but it still was fun to read about nonetheless. My only complaint if you can even call it that was that this book felt very dense. There were long paragraphs that were a part of long chapters which made it feel like the story was dragging on. I think if it was broken up a bit more it would’ve been even better but I still absolutely loved this.
I didn't even know Kristen's name, I just recognized her as the host of Iron Chef. 1 hour in and I was already floored. Hands on desk, lean the heck back. Who is this woman that I have watched for years and never realized?!?
Her level of insight and the calm way she articulates her thoughts is beautiful, and chapter 14... the amount of love, vulnerability and strength in this reading, at this particular moment, the words resonate so powerfully. I think if half the people in this world had half the grace, self-awareness and love put forth in this book, the world would be that much better a place.

I loved Kristen Kish on season 10 of Top Chef. I was rooting for her the entire time. I loved Fast Foodies - a fun and original low stakes food competition show in what can be a competitive and repetitive food competition world. I was excited to see her hosting on the Iron Chef reboot. And I was so excited when she was selected to replace Padma as the host of Top Chef. All that to say that I really enjoyed this memoir and getting to know her a little more and to see those things that I have watched play out on television from her point of view.

Great, truly authentic audiobook narration by the author.
