Conflicted because they have good angst but also they just needed couples therapy so much sooner

I just love the way I can feel emotion so often and so clearly when I read this authors books.

I could've done with a little less crying on Bronwyns part, and I don't know why the author likes to emphasize how plain her heroines are and how perfect their spouses are; especially since it makes the mc's feel less compatible, (specifically regarding Bryce being immediately infatuated with Bronwyn but never really specifying why).

I really, REALLY appreciate that their child's presence was felt and that she was fully a part of the story, but it wasn't annoying or obtrusive like how children are often conveyed in books (ESPECIALLY books where the children act and speak way above/below their age capabilities. Or books where children speak in baby-talk inaccurately, constantly, and cringily).

She was his other half and he could spend the rest of his life with just her by his side.

༉‧₊˚. about
Bronwyn Palmer is the wife of the rich Bryce Palmer. Bryce has trauma about fatherhood, and when he learns that she's pregnant with their first child, he kicked her out. Two years later, they meet again.

Thoughts on Bronwyn: A strong woman and I love her for it
Thoughts on Bryce: He was an asshole towards Bronwyn. Like, he was the one who forced her to leave then 2 years later he blames her for keeping him away from his daughter?? Boy... But at least he groveled.

༉‧₊˚. tropes
— marriage in trouble
— accidental pregnancy
— groveling

“I should have stayed away from you,” he repeated. “but I couldn’t. I can’t. You’re my light, Bronwyn. You’re my love. I’m so lost without you. I’ve always been so lost without you.”

༉‧₊˚. thoughts
The groveling was satisfying as fuck. I liked this better than the first book, The Unwanted Wife. I understood where he's coming from when he said those harsh words towards Bronwyn when she told him she was pregnant, but still. Honestly though, this book made me tear up. The groveling was sooo good. When Bryce cried I LOST IT BROOOO
And the ending is

The wife should be the one doing the regretting here. Her husband is just TSTL. Honestly.

This was good. For some reason I’m really into the husband regretting all his decisions trope. Kinda felt rushed and somehow also felt a little slow at the same time but I think it’s a great addition to the unwanted series.

Good.

I loved the story overall but there was just something lacking. It wasn’t as intense or as angsty as I would have liked to see. Still liked it enough to keep reading.

I loved this book. I actually read this before The Unwanted Wife.

This book hits one of my all-time favorite themes in stories: Make it HURT and then make it BETTER. I love love love the angst and in this story and in Ms. Anders' brillant hands, the miscommunication worked very well. Even better, when all came out, there was NO instant forgiveness and Bryce had to EARN Bronwyn's forgiveness and trust. Kayla was a treat and usually I have little patience for children in romance books. But Kayla was delightful and didn't overpower the story.

The setting of South Africa was a new one for me, but I really liked it. It's a fresh change from the constant NYCs, Chicagos, Regency England.

H- Bryce-gets mad and says mean things when h-Brownwyn-tells him She’s pregnant. They’ve been married a few years. He never wanted kids so during the fight he tells her to get out. She takes him very seriously and does just that. She goes to their vacay home hoping he’ll cool down and come for her.She tries to contact him but his PA/office won’t let her through. His cell is off etc. After a few weeks she moves on and gets a job etc. Fast forward 2 years later she has a baby 1.5 yo and is barely surviving. H finally finds her and Moves her and baby in with him all the while being mean as a snake to her. He was in a car wreck as he worriedly followed after her on the day of the pregnancy reveal/ big fight. He had head trauma and became deaf. He’s one angry dude as he hallucinated and thinks h was at the accident site and left him To die. A lot of angst Until h proves to H that it was just his imagination running away with him…. Then he grovels all the way to the hea.
