Spent a good portion of this book yelling at Amora, and the last part bawling my eyes out! :D

But seriously, the fact that she spent so much time even considering using that scale to bring back her father instead of breaking the curse was frustrating me so much. I get that it was about her grief but come ON. Also, no one remembering Ferrick after he sacrificed himself hurt me, like, physically.

I loved the idea of a god who wants to help humanity but it’s too hard and they give up. That being said, Blarthe is the worst villain name of all time. I couldn’t help laughing through the entirety of chapter 34 when the narrator would just say Blarth over and over again.

I really liked the first book but this one just didn't quite reach that. Don't get me wrong it was still a good book I just didn't really love it. The plot seemed just half hearted and the characters just didn't pull me in the same way. If you liked the first book you should still read this one but just keep this in mind.

Compared to the first book I did not enjoy this. Overall the story didn’t feel entirely necessary. Frankly only about 75 pages really felt relevant to the overall story. I’m glad this series is only a duology. I’m not sure I could have handled a third book.

The main character has gotten so unlikable, which makes this really hard to read since its first person POV. She acts like she's the only one who's suffering, or who's lost someone; and she's the only one who can fix anything. She's just so super special. She did get a bit better toward the end, but I really would have loved to be in any other character's head for awhile. It's sad, because I loved the first book so much. I still loved the world, but this was a letdown.
