A quick read under 100 pages. Sy always does an excellent job of writing and observing the natural world and beautiful creatures in it. I look forward to reading more from her.

I'm definitely in the "I'll read ANYTHING Sy Montgomery writes" camp and have been ever since I read The Good Pig back in 2006, I think. She brings a contagious sense of wonder to every project she undertakes. Readers will worry right along with her about the littlest hummer as she describes its struggles to survive. If you like birds in general or hummingbirds in specific or even just short nature writing, do NOT miss this one.

It's a easy short read on baby hummingbirds, which makes this book very likable. I finished it in an hour and then proceeded to check my hummingbird feeders to make sure they were full. There were facts about the hummingbird or "hummers" that I did not know. Nice read!

Unfortunately, more boring than interesting.

The Hummingbirds' Gift is an excerpt from Montgomery's [b:Birdology: Adventures with a Pack of Hens, a Peck of Pigeons, Cantankerous Crows, Fierce Falcons, Hip Hop Parrots, Baby Hummingbirds, and One Murderously Big Living Dinosaur|7059341|Birdology Adventures with a Pack of Hens, a Peck of Pigeons, Cantankerous Crows, Fierce Falcons, Hip Hop Parrots, Baby Hummingbirds, and One Murderously Big Living Dinosaur|Sy Montgomery|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1269473463l/7059341._SY75_.jpg|7311151]. This thin book is an reissue of that, and it looks like a few more will be coming to this series. I may just take out the original book to read. This is a heartwarming story of two orphaned hummingbirds and their will to survive is matched by the volunteers who take care of them.

I picked this book up as I have always been fascinated by hummingbirds, and I had no idea how much it would teach me about them! I’m almost sad I finished it so quickly as I grew quite fond of those two tiny birds which the author rescued and fostered

who doesn't want to read a book about orphan hummingbirds being rehabilitated? Perfect for an afternoon working in the garden.
