Darker, twister and intriguing, that’s how I would sum up this book.
In the first one I really didn’t liked Lucian, he come off so obsessed and ruthless, but here we get to see more of what happened to him and why he chooses to be the man he is now.
As for Elaine, just wow. Her past is mind blowing and something I didn’t expect.
Let’s see what the next and final book will bring because there’s so much more to unveil in this dark romance.

Wow. I certainly enjoyed this one more than the first but I still was left feeling like there wasn't enough in the story plot line.
Soulless leaves where Heartless left us on a cliffhanger. Lucian Morelli has now "kidnapped" Elaine Constantine, saying he "is going to kill her". But what if Elaine actually wants death? What if she has no where else to be & isn't scared of death?
Lucian traps Elaine in a faraway cottage away from anyone, & this is where he gets to know the Constantine princess, only to find out she is far from a princess. With a past so emotional & dark, it terrifies him that she had to go through that & has continued to go through it alone. He then is confused why he feels suddenly protective of Elaine.
Elaine then is surprised when she finds herself trusting Lucian more than she has ever trusted anyone before. They both open up with the deep dark secrets while also finding they both have more in common than once thought.
I did love reading about their love story. They truly flipped the switch and went from enemies to lovers, & suddenly could not get enough of each other. This book does leave another cliffhanger on how each mafia family are going to react to the rival children falling in love. I look forward in reading more about Lucian & Elaine's HEA.

Oh my gosh!!! I love Lucian. He is a monster, but this book we get to see him grow. I held my breath at times because I had no clue where we were headed. I can’t wait to read more. This modern day Romeo and Juliet has me spellbound.

was this better or worse than book one? honestly, i didn’t feel very differently about it than i did with the first book, but if i had to say, then i think book one was just a tiny bit better. the couple’s relationship is just so fast burn that it’s hard for me to be really invested. nonetheless, i hate leaving trilogies unfinished, so i’ll be moving on to the last book next.

Jade West has such a talent for writing it’s insane! In this second installment of the Starcrossed Lovers Trilogy we get to dive right in where we left off in Heartless. Lucian takes Elaine away from the city to torture and eventually kill her like she wants, like she begs for him to do. But neither of them are really ready for what actually happens.
This story is not for the weak, it has strong, dark scenes that you should prepare yourself for. This is a twisted tale that will challenge your ability to care for characters. If you are looking for a sunshine and rainbows romance you need to look elsewhere, but if you are looking for a romance that makes you take a step back and possibly cringe a bit then this one is for you! I can not wait for the last part of this story!

Lucian and Elaine's story is full of darkness, the perfect anti-hero, full of twisted situations, definitely a very interesting read that I couldn't put down, I need to know the end of this story, there are a lot of questions I need answers to, I am dying to know the secrets. If you like dark, bully, erotic romance, this is your next read, start with book one.

My only review is to say that I was pretty disappointed FMC’s emotions and thoughts concerning her abuse. As someone who experienced child s*xual trauma, it didn’t feel authentic or genuine. I know other people in my shoes may react and think differently, but for me, that’s how I felt. Anyway, here are some trigger warnings for this book.
Recounting of child s*xual trauma, both told from FMC POV and listened to from MMC POV. Trauma includes grooming, confusion about whether the advances were “wanted” or not, victim blaming and shaming, calling the victim a liar. S*icidal thoughts and attempt. Also the same themes that run through the trauma, also run through MC spice scenes; so if you don’t want to see parallels between the two…
