Eh, not great. It was a fun premise and resolution was nice, but I was not invested in the main characters. Not a fan. Language, medium spice, wouldn't recommend.
3.5 ⭐️ rounded up to 4. I really liked this and tbh if I didn’t get the B&N version with the bonus chapter I probably would have only given this 3 ⭐️. If the regular version ends with only the epilogue pls go read the bonus chapter at B&N asap.
So this was great, I always enjoy Christina Lauren romance books, however this fell a little flat for me. This reminded me a lot of The Charm Offensive, but it just didn’t give me the same feelings. I didn’t feel as invested or any of those fun tingly feelings I usually get from a well done romance full of chemistry and tension.
Some parts were amazing, but too many just felt meh to me. I wanted more of the reality show antics, but it was mostly just short moments of the reality show and this was primarily about the budding relationship and forbidden love between Fizzy and her producer, Connor.
My feelings aren’t fair since I preferred The Charm Offensive and expected the same kind of laugh out loud “The Bachelor” type moments, but it just wasn’t that funny to me. Fizzy was over the top and obnoxious, and Connor was just your run of the mill hot British dad. The forbidden love was mostly fun, but I predicted the ending from a mile away.
This just didn’t give me the fuzzy feelings I was hoping for, and it was very predictable, but I did enjoy this one and I do not regret reading it. It just isn’t a fave for me.

This was everything. I loved it. No notes.
Can I read it again and pretend I don’t know what happens??

3.5 ⭐️ so cute!! i loved fizzy in The Soulmate Equation and i was so excited to find out she was getting her own book! the premise of a romance author being casted as the lead of a dating show is really fun; connor is a great book boyfriend (tall. british. good dad. respectful and kind and funny. down Horrendous for fizzy) and their banter and chemistry are great; i Adored all of the moments with stevie and juno <3 the filming of the dating show and especially the finale were really cute too.
i guess my only gripe is with the.. narration style? fizzy is 37 so i am objectively at least a decade younger than the target audience but (while some of the humor landed very well, especially the hilarious banter i mentioned before), a lot of it was older millennial cringey humor. some of the vocabulary choices like “pants feelings” or “fizzgina” elicited a physical reaction from me.
‼️spoiler here‼️ i wasn’t totally sold on the way they handled/justified cheating. jess convinced fizzy that Everybody Makes Mistakes and then connor was mad at fizzy for Reacting to his confession and that was that. no no No!! she’s so completely valid in freaking out and not wanting to calmly talk it out especially considering her previous relationship trauma, come on. and i really wish that plot point wasn’t a thing for connor and nat’s marriage, because up until this moment they were The example of perfect divorced co-parents.
overall a solid cute romance read, and i enjoyed it a little more than The Soulmate Equation.
