This book was a hauntingly devastating and profound view of mental health, sexuality, death, and society.

I liked the short, disjointed writing style. It feels reading what depression feels like.

So many good quotes came from this book. Some are:

"My death, and the death of everyone I love, is inevitable"

"The fact that I'm able to carry myself through life without being crushed by the psychological weight of being alive proves that I'm a con artist. Aren't we all the con artists?"

"Hey! Stop crying. It doesn't matter. Consider the vastness of space!"

I’ve been clawing my way out of COVID land for the past few weeks. I didn’t read anything the first week I was sick, I just slept all the time. Week 2? I was able to read some mediocre KU books, then I read a super overhyped (and underwhelming) nonfic (A Marriage at Sea - I don’t get it).

THEN. THEN! I picked up  Everyone in This Room Will Someday Be Dead by Emily Austin. FIVE FREAKING STARS. The FMC is so freaking relatable. And funny and awkward and weird. Her intrusive thoughts mimic some of my OCD thoughts, so I felt really seen by this book.

This is the second Emily Austin book I’ve given 5 stars. Is she a new auto-buy author? Quite possibly yes 😍.

Emily Austin's protagonists all seem to be iterations of the same person. But it is a person I am interested in reading about. This is my third favorite of the three, but still a good, sweet read.

This was a fast read. I thought it was well-written.

i didn’t really like this book at first but now i’m luteal and have period brain and I remembered what it’s like to spiral. i love a book about a woman in general and especially about a woman being led to insanity so ultimately ended up really enjoying it.
