The perfect end for a very much loved couple. One of my favourite ever series. Seeing how far both Quaid and Aslan have come, and seeing them starting a family together, was extremely special.
The mystery was, as always, brilliant too.
They're child's name was perfection. I absolutely didn't end the book feeling at all emotional, honest.
Oh and also.... Arden and Iggy?! Bryn was so wonderful.

This series finale was such a great read I stayed up all night to finish it because I didn’t not want to put it down! It has everything you want in a series finale (even if you don’t want the series to end!) We see how far each of these MCs has come and the author does a great job of incorporating reminders without everything being repetitive. The crime storyline ties in with the character development/personal story arcs perfectly. We get the flashbacks to what we know of Quaid’s baggage when as he is getting ready to walk out the door to start a six month paternity leave a child kidnapping case comes in. He can’t say no when his partner asks for help. And of course Aslan who is also on paternity agrees to help him out hoping they can get the case solved before their surrogate goes into labor. The tension of that race against time and the search for the missing child makes the read an intense one.
I am most impressed with the way the author comes full circle on the series storylines. It’s such satisfaction to see these two emotionally damaged men come to find and appreciate the love and found families they’ve got. I wish the series weren’t ending but if it has to this was a satisfying way for it conclude.

I have mixed feelings about this book. It was great to see the final chapter of Aslan and Quaid and how far they’ve come. But the mystery was laughably obvious and the fact that these expert detectives took so long to figure it out was distracting. I also got sick of the homophobic banter with Costa, there was just too much of it. This was a great series and I’m sad to see it end.

An enjoyable ending to a fantastic series.
A smidge off my rating because I did find the crime part of this story more obvious than in others, but I still loved it.

Minutes before officially going on parental leave, expecting parents Aslan and Quaid are drawn into a case involving a missing child. The case proves complicated when no one seems willing to tell the truth, and the pressure mounts as they try to solve the case before the birth of their own child.
We've known since the beginning that Quaid has always had big dreams for a family, and it's finally happening for him and Aslan. There were so many sweet, endearing moments as they prepare for the new baby. They are going to be amazing, fun, caring parents. Every interaction they had with the surrogate - who's an absolute angel and I adore - and the baby was so precious. When it was time for the big moment, there were definitely tears of joy and happiness as they finally have achieved their dreams together. I secretly wish we got a snapshot into their future, because I can only imagine the shenanigans their family gets into with how different their parenting styles are going to be.
The case was pretty interesting, and no shade to the last book, but I'm glad we had a little suspense going on along with their personal storyline. I was getting heated that there were obviously secrets in the family and no one seemed willing to do what it takes to get the kid back, like just spill it! Your pride isn't worth your son's life. I could really rant about it, and I loved how Quaid gave it to them a time or two. I was so proud of Quaid for stepping in and protecting the children, not that I would have expected anything less, and loved that Aslan knew him well enough to know that he wasn't going to let this go and just gave him the support he needed. Seeing how everyone helped them to get through the case during such a stressful time just gave me happy feels.
I was going to rate this book even higher but a few things kind of stuck out to me as odd for them. They completely forgot about questioning the nanny for a bit for one, but the real thing was that I even caught on to who the culprit was before they did. I didn't know the depth of the crime and betrayal obviously, but I was right about the person. I'm also not convinced in the least the Quaid, the man who wanted to be at the hospital right when contractions started, would leave the imminent birth of his child to put his life in danger. I could see him wanting to save the abducted child obviously, however I'm not sold that was something he would do. And like the last book, I'm over the sneer.
This is the real and final end for Aslan and Doyle - cue the tears. I really enjoyed this entire series and seeing them go from hate fueled rivals to soulmates. They have such a beautiful life ahead of them and are a couple who I have absolute faith will make it to the end.
