Why did I think a reread of this would be good?! Worst decision ever. Now I understand why I started to dislike the friends-to-lovers trope.

I enjoyed J. Lynn's "Waiting For You" series, but I'm not into the paranormal stuff, so I was happy to see another N.A. book from her. I'm not a huge fan of romance book story lines based solely around underconfident heroines and miscommunications. I made an exception here because I enjoy the author's build up and humoristic style. And, I get it, I was a teenage girl/young adult once and I remember what it was like to yearn after a crush and overthink everything he said or didn't say. This is the ultimate fantasy-- what if that crush turns out to be requited after all? On the surface, it sounds great, and I did enjoy the one-liners and funny moments. I just thought some of it was laying it on a bit thick.
I liked that there was a bit of mystery/suspense tossed in for good measure. I didn't like the over-the-top angst and the way the characters were just always assuming stuff instead of flat out talking.
There were a few editing errors (I spotted an "its" that should have been "it's" and an extra set of quotation marks, among a couple of other minor things). At one point, the characters are wearing jeans and in the next line, it's suddenly sweats. Not a huge thing, but enough to make me pause and re-read to see if I had misunderstood. Took me right out of the moment, which was annoying. I think she originally had them wearing jeans in her draft, changed her mind, and didn't change them all.
I also thought it was odd that she confesses to love him at one point, but then suddenly it's like it never happened, because the "I love you" becomes a big reveal? I was... confused about that.
While I enjoyed it enough to finish it and the humor was fun, I found some of these things to be jarring and strange coming from a well known and accomplished author.
If you can get it cheap or check it out from your library like I did, sure, give it a shot.

I can't believe this is the same author that wrote the Lux series (about aliens). I also loved her Wait For You series, but this book was not my favorite.
Jennifer L. Armentrout just knows how to give me the feels. Definitely becoming one of my favorite authors.
This book was great. I did get frustrated with Sydney from time to time because she would jump to conclusions or over think things too much. But I loved this book regardless.

Estaría entre las 3-3.5 estrellas. Y como llevo viendo bastante que este libro no ha gustado, lo mio es claramente una UNPOPULAR OPINION (opinión impopular).
A mí si me ha gustado. Me ha entretenido y se me ha hecho ameno y divertido. El libro no es el mejor New Adult de la historia, pero no es tan horrendo como dicen muchos. Hay que tener en cuenta que este libro fue escrito hace años, y que, aunque a España haya llegado como lo nuevo de Jennifer, es en realidad, su primer trabajo de New Adult cuando solamente llevaba un par de libros publicados, aunque, en sí, incluso fue su primera historia.
A raiz de lo que he explicado antes, los protagonistas son los típicos protagonistas que nos encontramos en libros publicados en 2013 y que, ahora, en 2018, no nos gustan: chicas inocentes y chicos malotes y mujeriegos. Ahora nos van mas chicas con fuerte carácter y chicos malotes pero con un corazón que nos conquista. Igual que la trama: chica enamorada de su mejor amigo, y ella cree que él nunca se fijaría en ella, y casualmente ese mejor amigo está enamoradísimo de ella pero él cree que ella merece algo mejor. La trama es tan 2013 que ahora, esa trama la vemos básica y sin chicha.
A mí la historia de amor me ha gustado. Me ha gustado como ambos se van dando cuenta de sus sentimientos, de cómo se sienten, etc. Al igual que los momentos cómicos de Sydney, porque, qué queréis que os diga, su patosidad me hacía mucha gracia. Kyler meh. Es muy prototípico.
Ahora, la trama de misterio sí que doy la razón de que es previsible y que se sabe a leguas qué es lo que pasa.
Y lo del sexo.... en el libro hay sexo, pero TODO EL MUNDO se queja de que hay mucho sexo (prácticamente yo iba con la idea de que había relaciones sexuales de cualquier tipo desde la página 50) y NO ES ASÍ. Es un New Adult, tiene que haber escenas de sexo, obviamente, pero no hay tanto como dicen que hay. (Joder, en otras sagas conocidas mundialmente hay muchísimo más sexo y NADIE SE QUEJA EH)
En una tarde se lee, por lo que punto positivo. Y es quizás una muy buena lectura para una tarde de invierno por la ambientación.
