I struggled with this book from the beginning. Considering the popularity of one of the authors series I thought this was going to be a grewt book, but it was so disappointing.

It read like a Wattpad book written by a 12 year old girl who has read too many wattpad books.

It felt like the characters were trying to fill some tropes instead of having any substance. They were so onesided.

I especially hated the way the FMC, Sydney was portrayed as one of those ‘quirky’ girls. Like she liked shoveling snow, there was the whole ‘I know it weird and not what other girls like to do, but it works for me’.

I also hated the main conflict of miscommunication, when I don’t usually mind it if it’s done right. This was not done right, both characters were self hating and it was so annoying. Each plot point was weak and I couldn’t understand why the characters made the decision they did, and it often made me frustrated.

it was perfectly good! BUT i'm not over the moon in love or anything.

i'm notoriously (and controversially) a hater of from blood and ash and i have to say i enjoyed this much more than i did fbaa. thats the only other JLA book i've ever read lol so i was surprised pleased with this one! not only does it have one of my favorite tropes (childhood best friends to lovers) but it does a pretty good job of it!

i really liked sydney and kylers relationship but it was kind of a juvenile concept of "oh theres no way the other person could want to be with me! we couldn't! but i like them a lot! but i won't tell them! but everybody else and their mother knows we love each other! but oh theres just no way the other could like me never ever!" ok maybe thats a stretch but either way i'm a sucker for those things when done well. on the other hand, i'm not so much a fan of romances that take place on vacations??? idk why but they all have this vibe (yes its a vibe, theres a vibe, its there!!) and i dont like it LMAO but to be fair i have never read one where they are literally snowed in at a ski resort so i guess i didnt mind it!

so this was pretty good! if you actually are a fan of JLA and love these tropes, definitely give it a try! also a hugeee thank you to bloom books and jennifer l armentrout for the physical ARC!!

It's an easy read but not well written. I found both MCs really annoying. The whole premise is miscommunication, and any plot is basically a vehicle to get to the spice. The spice is fine, but there are continuity errors that take you out of it. The whole thing is "fine" - kind of the novel equivalent of a Netflix Christmas movie.

I was not a fan of this book. This is the second time I tried a J Lynn book that I ended up not liking so I guess her writing style isn’t for me. The characters fell flat for me and I felt like they really needed to look back on their priorities. The mini plot twist wasn’t really a twist in my opinion.

Snowstorms, sizzling chemistry, and suspense—Frigid is a cozy yet thrilling friends-to-lovers romance. Syd and Kyler’s journey from best friends to something more is packed with heartwarming moments, angsty tension, and a dash of danger.

Tropes to love:

This story follows Sydney who has been love with her best friend and both are stuck in a snowstorm where chemistry is brewing. I really enjoyed this book. I was nervous at first because Jennifer writes great fantasy romance so I wasn’t sure if I would like her contemporary romance. However, Jennifer didn’t disappoint. This book was well written and I really enjoyed the storyline. There were lots of conflict and pacing made the story flow. With the fast pacing, I also finished this book fairly quickly. This book is told from both Kyler and Sydney’s pov.

Kyler is a playboy who tries to get every girl but wasn’t want to lose Syd by declaring his feelings. Syd is the same but is a homebody who prefers to not go out. I liked both of their character but I did feel like something was missing from their story. There are side characters in this book but none that were truly involved with the story. The romance is childhood friends to lovers, forced proximity, and slow burn. The chemistry was great and I really enjoyed the romance.

The ending was wonderful and overall this was a great story. I’m excited to read the second book following the best friend. This was a short book but I think if it was a but longer where the MC’s stories were more explained, it would have been much better. I recommend checking this book out for the winter season.

*this arc was sent to me by the publisher to give an honest review in return*

I loved this book. It ended just the way it should have. I couldn't ask for anymore!!!
