Overall rating: 4.5/10
Meh.
It could have been better; not a lot better, but still, it could have been better. The plot was okay, it wasn't too far-fetched and I guess it was kind of cute, the whole love story. I did enjoy reading it and there were places in the book that had me glued to the pages but overall, it was a big disappointment.
The characters were a bit one dimensional though, but maybe because there wasn't enough time to actually see the characters in different situations. I didn't fall to Kyler in any way, and this is odd for me, since I am so in love with so many other fictional characters. With Kyler, I couldn't even feel attracted to him, and that's not really a sign of good writing.
Lets move onto the sex. It was very bad. Disappointing. Awful, even. I don't know why I didn't like it much, but I've read better smut on the internet. For free. There really is only so much sex you can have in one day, and I guess I'm more a fan of the "less details more imagination" writing style when it comes to smut. It wasn't badly written or anything, but I never felt any electricity.
Overall, it was not a challenging read, I read it within two hours easily enough. It's a nice book to relax and wind down with, if you're not up to something more stimulating. The romance is sweet, and believable, but on the whole, not one I enjoyed extensively and not one I'd read again.

MY FIRST SMUTTY BOOK!!!! lmfao I read this in 2020 and im currently writing this review in 2024. Lets just say this book started something im not sure when I will grow out of but its been a hell of a ride and ive loved every second of it.
I'm debating a little how much stars to give this book. Is it a good read? Yes. Is it the best book I've read by this author? No. Is it a story without flaws? No.
I think I'll have to go with 3.5/5 stars.
Sydney has been in love with Kyler since she was a little girl, but Kyler has been to busy man-whoring around. I liked Sydney from the beginning. I however didn't really like Kyler that much and his man-whoring ways put me off a little.
It was a fun read and steamy with a bit of suspense added into it. I did however found it quite obvious from the get go who was hanging around their house and messing with them. So maybe it wasn't too suspenseful.
I'm not sure I can really put my finger on it why I didn't love this book that much. I guess something was just missing in this book for me.
I enjoyed reading it, but I never really got to the point where I LOVED reading it.
It is however a fun short read, so if you like the NA genre, this is surely a book to check out.

I loved this one! Exactly what I needed to get rid of my book slump. I normally don’t read friends to lovers but this story was nicely done and I really enjoyed the relationship between the characters 💙❄️
Let me preface this by saying I absolutely love Jennifer L. Armentrout, regardless of which name she's using to publish a book. Books published under J. Lynn are generally pretty steamy. This one, though set in a blizzard, was no exception.
The first thing I love about this book is that it was set in West Virginia. <3 Kyler was hot. Sydney was sweet. I have a thing for books with friend love. I also have a thing for books with great quotes - especially if they're funny one-liners.
“How much snow are they calling for?”
“Somewhere between a lot and holy fuck.”
“Guys are totally stupid when it comes to unrequited love. We females pine away and keep our thighs closed for the most part when we love someone we can’t have. Guys swing their shit around at anything that has a hole, trying to forget the one they want.”

OMG this book...oh boy!
I stayed up all night reading this books and on top of that its a school night so now I'm in school feeling like a truck ran over me.
Wow I LOVE Armentrout work BIG FAN
she never let me done. She's awesome.
Anyways this book OH MY GOD! I cried, laughed, awkward, felt embarrassed, and all these mixed emotions but honestly I loved it and that's what matters

Ever since I picked up an ARC of Scorched at BEA, I've been considering doing a reread of Frigid because it's been nearly two years. I couldn't help but jump in this weekend for a little refresher. I remembered the story, but I forgot the finer points, so I'm glad I decided to do it, too. I didn't enjoy it *quite* as much the second time around, but it was still a solid and enjoyable story.
The friends to lovers trope is one of my favorites and I couldn't help but get sucked back into Sydney and Kyler's story the second time around. If I'm being totally honest, I liked Sydney's character a lot more than I did Kyler. He wasn't a bad guy at all, but I'm a little over the whole "I have a crush on my best friend, but she's too good for me/unavailable/uninterested, so I'll sleep with anything that moves" thing so prevalent in books these days. Do guys really think like this? It just kinda raises my hackles. But, I digress. I'm glad we were treated to chapters from his POV as well, otherwise it would've taken even longer for me to warm up to him. However, since I knew the types of thoughts and feelings he had for Sydney, I was able to connect with him about halfway through the book.
Sydney was a fun character. She was also a complete and total walking disaster of the klutziest proportions. I'm not exactly "grace" myself, so I get it. I could feel how much she pined for Kyler and how difficult it was for her to watch him hook up with girl after girl right in front of her. (I mean, really, who hasn't been there before?) She was convinced she wasn't his type and he was sure she was too good for him. As much as I enjoyed watching them dance around this, I'd have loved some more direct communication and to have seen this worked out a little sooner in the book. One thing's for sure, even on my second time around, I was totally invested in their story and rooting for them to get it together.
This book has a healthy dose of humor, angst, sweet romance, sexy times and even a little bit of suspense. Being a West Virginia girl myself (ok, kinda...) I enjoyed the mountain setting and the regional humor. Now that I've gotten another taste of Andrea and Tanner, I'm even more excited to read their story in Scorched!

Frigid by Jennifer L Armentrout fell just short of hitting that comfort smut mark for me.
PROS:
❄️The spice was spicing
🎄Friends to Lovers
❄️Miscommunication trope
🎄Forced proximity
CONS:
❄️The side plot of revenge against the human bike that turned into a barely thwarted SA encounter and a window getting shot out dangerously close to the FMC and MMC just seemed unnecessary.
🎄The third act post trauma breakup
❄️How many girls were willing to ride the bike knowing how many had ridden it before them
🔥🔥🔥out of five fireside hookups with a childhood best friend while it seems like their lives might be in danger
