This book felt like a hallmark movie, the plot was predictable, it was Christmas time and the best friends have both been secretly in love since childhood.
Cue Mr. “I’m not good enough for the girl” Kyler (which is not a good name by the way) who’s solution is to numb his feelings by sleeping with any girl who offers. When has that ever been a good idea? Then we have Sydney, who instead of speaking on her feelings decided it would be best to pine after her best friend and watch him sleep around BUT also allow him to push away guys who get close to her.
I know they were college kids but the characters felt really immature to me. It really felt like one honest conversation could have solved all of their problems.
The bad guy of the story was obvious from the beginning but I didn’t have a problem with that.
Overall I didn’t hate this book but I also didn’t love it. I’ve been a big JLA fan since I read From Blood and Ash and I’ve like everything fantasy from her but maybe her contemporary romance isn’t for me. If you’re into cute Christmas hallmark movies where the guy always gets the girl you’ll probably like this one.
Thank you Netgalley and SourcebooksBloombooks for the review copy!

2.5 out of 5 stars
The beginning and end was good but the middle wasn't at all good and it dragged.

What an intense story written by J. Lynn, and I'm sure I don't have to say she who goes by another name. I am a big fan of 'her' young adult novels and as J. Lynn her new adults novels have find a place in my heart as well. Frigid was a quick but absorbing read.
I liked that the story was able to pull me in and kept me interested, even with most of the book was just Sydney and Kyler. They were both snowed in alone with rare interaction with other people and the sexual tension between them was so tangible I was anxious for something to happen. Speaking of snowed in, the title of the book was very sly of Ms. Lynn, there is a definite double meaning there.
Kyler was the usual man whore you find in some of these new adult novel, I have to say I didn't see why he chose to be that way. When he said why he was it was the stupidest reason ever. Not that there are good reasons to be a man whore. I didn't think he did a good job at making sure his 'skanks' respected Sydney since he care so much for her. He really could have done a better job at protecting her from their dismissing of her existence in his life. Why did he think it was best to not seek out a relationship with Sydney when he feels so strongly for her? He was also as clueless as a guy can be when a girl is so in love with him.
Sydney has been in love with Kyler forever. She doesn't think he likes her as more than a best friend even though he always chase away any interested guy. Sydney was also the typical insecure girl, well I should say woman but she comes across as more of a teenager. She never says what's really on her mind to Kyler and I'm not sure but maybe her being a psychology major should have clued her in on the importance of communication if not common sense.
There was a bit of a suspense/mystery feel to some parts of the story. While stuck at the lodge Sydney and Kyler were being stalked and attempts were made on their life. It was pretty easy to figure out who the culprit was right away, even though I thought I might be wrong. That alone added some of the intense feeling to the story for me.
Frigid was a good book with very good writing, and interesting characters. I always love it when a lead character have a supportive gal pal that can knock some sense into her. And Sydney did have that in Andrea. And Kyler wasn't all bad, he really cared for Sydney and did get his head out of his ass and did man up eventually.

Lol this book is so 2013 coded because there's this as a line: Le sigh.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
This one is a childhood friends to lovers wooo! with a player mmc wow exciting Also wasn’t expecting the added mystery element wow fun The tension was definitely present in this one
disappointed that i didn’t love this one especially when I have enjoyed j.lynn's previous works. it’s a childhood friends to lovers with a player mmc so it had so much potential. the execution of this love story wasn’t it for me
first off, I can tell this was written in 2013 with the cringe vocabulary and juvenile dialogue.
direct quote from this book - “you are such a vagina” HUGE ICKKK
I understand this is a republishing of an old book but idk maybe rewrite it to be better
sydney was kinda annoying with her “not like other girls” attitude and her slut shaming other girls that kyler would interact with. she also acted like a child as well as damsel in distress with kyler like girl STAND UP PLS
