I’m going to put it out there right now: huge JLA Stan and I have loved everything she’s written. This one is probably down on the list if I were to rank my favorites of hers, but it’s a fun read. Typical miscommunication that makes this story a friends to lovers. The only thing I found strange were the events that caused the conflict. It was very out there…but everything else was great for me.
I never seem to understand how much I love friends to lovers tropes, but apparently I do! Was in a fantasy romance reading slump, decided to switch over to contemporary romance for a bit and picked up Frigid. I love JLA and her contemporary romances deliver too! I didn’t find this book too heavy or complicated. It was just what I needed. I loved Kyler. Story was good, who doesn’t love a good forced proximity trope!? Recommend if you are looking for a not too intense contemporary romance.
This book will not be for everyone, so just read what it's about before you dive in. I love JLA and this is no exception. This one was very rough editing wise though, so just be prepared for all the errors or don't read this book if that bothers you. But I loved the story. This is a childhood best friends to lovers college romance book. We also get forced proximity and the one bed trope. It's the perfect NA spicy, winter/Christmas read if you are looking for that.
Now the important part. This book made me cry. I had tears coming out of my eyes. I have only cried about 3-4 times while reading books. I do not cry even when people die. I found [b:Pack Up the Moon|55445159|Pack Up the Moon|Kristan Higgins|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1605447045l/55445159._SX50_.jpg|85249669] funny. But just something about this book and the way JLA writes a story and her characters got to me, and I cried. I am so excited to continue this story and read all the JLA books that I have yet to read.

I've been on a NA kick recently, and like always Jennifer L. Armentrout's writing ticks all the boxes

Contrived and cheesy in parts, but it has my favorite trope, so I enjoyed it. Definitely New Adult-type too that isn't necessarily well-written, but still entertaining.

I really wanted to give it 4 stars, but I just couldn't. All that drama of the dude fucking with them and Sydney's blahness seriously got on my nerves. I'd been wanting to read this for a while now, the story had such potential, but it just didn't do it for me.

I am thoroughly disappointed that I missed out on growing up with a best guy friend and fell in love with him. And this book made me feel that way even more. One thing about this book that I really, REALLY just cannot stand, is the fact that it's obvious very little research was of into the university of Maryland. Maryland is my home state and EVERYONE knows that it is U M D. NOT "u of m". I know, I know, such a silly thing to be so bothered by. But Maryland is a small state, and it's really rare to find a book that takes place (partly) in MD, so when I do find one, and there's an inaccuracy in it, it makes me so stinking irritated. UMD. UMD. UMD. UMD. UMD. U M D gosh darn it. UMD.
Okay, I'm done going off on a silly detail. To the story. I loved the tenderness and love they have for each other. I mean, it's so blatantly obvious that they are hopelessly in love with each other. And it is absolutely adorable. And when Sydney is drunk and sings that song in the snow before attempting to kiss Kyler, OH MY GOSH, I was DYING. I nearly cried from laughing.
The racy parts of the book weren't disgusting, but sweet. I could feel the love they had for each other. I mean, I read this book in like, 3 hours (combined of the 2 "days" it took to read) because I was just so hooked. Oh this book. The perfect love story of two best friends
