I absolutely love this author. She can write a gripping romantic suspense filled with believable alpha males and strong women who can keep up with them. I can't wait for the next book!

Rock's on the run! Rock has been framed for murder and the Black Knight's are going to save him. Vanessa never believe's he did it. This one was at times funny. Julie Ann Walker also included lots of action just to keep us all involved. I love these books!

No one in Black Knight Inc. believes that Rock Babineaux has gone rogue, not matter what the CIA says. But he decides that he has to go on the run in order to save their lives.
But BKI isn't going to let him go. Natalie Day has tracked him down in Costa Rica. Too bad the CIA has tracked her...
Fast, fun, and fluffy. A nice addition to the series.

He's gone rogue
Ex-navy SEAL Rock Babineaux is as Cajun as they come--spicy, sexy, and more than a bit wicked. But would he actually betray his country? Even his best friends on the special-ops Black Knights team aren't sure they can trust him. Now the target of a massive manhunt, Rock knows the only way to protect his team--especially his partner, Vanessa--is to run...

She won't back down
Rock might think he can outmaneuver them all, but he hasn't counted on how stubborn Vanessa Cordero can be. And she refuses to cut him loose. Sure, her partner has his secrets, but there's no one in the world she'd rather have by her side in a tight spot. Which is good, because she and Rock are about to get very tight...

So after reading [b:Rev It Up|13438570|Rev It Up (Black Knights Inc., #3)|Julie Ann Walker|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1345059915s/13438570.jpg|18945888] (unfortunately, I wasn't thrilled with that one), I was a little wary about reading Thrill Ride. But thankfully, things were better this time around.

I will say this: Julie Ann Walker knows the basic writing craft/style. There weren't all that many problems with dialogue, grammar, arc, etc. She also knows how to write a story that's entertaining.

However, that kind of leads to the "bad". Now again, these books aren't necessarily bad at all (I'm kind of middle of the road as far as the whole series goes), they are entertaining (just so long as you remember that at the heart, they're essentially romantic suspense and I have a feeling that Julie has no training as far as spec-ops goes, so there's got to be a bit of a detachment from reality here), but I feel like Julie has a little trouble deciding what kind of person she wants her characters to be. Especially the heroines. Vanessa's supposed to be hardened special operator, yet she spends an amazing amount of time scared, sad, etc. Not saying that those emotions weren't called for, but for a character who's supposed to be such a badass, that was too much. I also felt like this book spent too much time with inner dialogue. Rock and Vanessa especially spent a lot of time going into inner dialogue mode, sometimes even about things that just happened, leaving one person or another staring at them and them having to figure where they were in the conversation.

Let's move on. The romance in this book (which, honestly, after the last one, I was really wanting to see how things turned out between Rock and Vanessa since they held my interest even more the Snake and Shell) feels like it's just kind of...there. Yes, there were some hot and heavy scenes, but then just as it looked like things would get going, one (or both) of the MCs would do or say something that brought things to a screeching halt. The time that things went all the way was pretty good though.

I did have a little trouble with Rock's stance: It hurts too much when you get close, I know from personal experience, so I won't let anyone else ever get close because then it'll be too hard. Really? Look dude, we get it, you lost someone close to you and it was hard. But that doesn't mean you don't get a second chance. If that was the case, then Vanessa could have pulled the same card. Granted her reasons were because
Spoilershe lost her parents. He did lose his fiancée, but again, doesn't mean you don't get a second chance ever
Then he tries to prove that he really is the tough guy because Vanessa's got stars in her eyes and is hearing wedding bells, so he tells her flat out that he'll never fall in love with her. First of all, while Vanessa did have those things going on where he was concerned, he didn't fool anyone with that bit. Not for a second. I'm just saying.

All told though, this book was pretty decent as far as romance novels go.

The story of a man determined to keep people at a distance and the woman who manages to get under his skin.

Vanessa has a huge crush on "Rock", who makes it more than clear that all he's interested in is a good time and nothing serious. When Rock gets framed and has to go dark, the Black Knights and Vanessa especially do everything they can to find him before the CIA teams that are ordered to shoot on sight do.

She is successful in finding him, but the two end up in the forest, running for their lives, which does not help Rock's mission of keeping Vanessa at arm's length. He still does his best, however, and
Spoilereven though they do succumb to the intense attraction between them, he insists that he doesn't love her, lying to both her and himself
.

With the help of the Knights, Rock manages to get the answers he needs, but he seems to be in even more trouble, which to him justifies his stance even more.

While I understood their reasons, I felt that their relationship wasn't particularly balanced, with Vanessa giving it her all, while Rock
Spoileronly came around at the very end, simply admitting that he was wrong to deny his feelings, before Vanessa forgave and accepted him
.

Next comes Eve and "Wild Bill"'s story in [b:Born Wild|33586415|Born Wild (Black Knights Inc., #5)|Julie Ann Walker|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1482743415l/33586415._SY75_.jpg|21567262].

Characters: language specialist, mercenary
World Building: jungle survival
Plot: on the run from feds, proving innocence, uncovering conspiracy
Sex: medium
Read another: Yes

I'm still enjoying this series. It has a similar feel to the Catherine Mann military books. Band of brothers type thing, with some motorcycles thrown in.

“Thrill Ride” will take you on a ride through Costa Rica, and you will feel like you are trying to outrun the CIA and the people who are trying to capture and kill Rock. Julie Ann Walker does a bang-up job on Rock’s and Vanessa’s story. You will get adventure, suspense, LOTS of hot romance, and of course, a lot of sexual tension between Rock and Vanessa…because ROCK is so friggin’ stubborn.
I loved the story behind this book, and you even get a taste of the next couple’s book Wild Bill and Eve. (sigh I want their book already because those two seriously have a LOT of tension between each other)
I give this book five stars and highly recommend it to romantic suspense fans out there. If you are a diehard fan like I am when it comes to Julie Ann Walker and her Black Knights, you will devour this book within a day or two.

This is my favorite one so far! No creepy villain trying to hurt women. Just super exciting action and love.
