What a gorgeous book! It is one of those that I am heartbroken when it's finished. Please! Please tell me there is more to come!

Oh so highly recommended!

I faded out of this book because I was just finding it dull, the characters unconvincing, and above all, the writing not conveying the situations and character interactions well.

4.5 stars. This is a sweet quiet book about two young men who set out to find an elusive butterfly species in the Australian outback, and end up finding each other as well. The language is lovely, some of the images just sneak their way into your senses, and the moments of drama are very low-key.

In fact, my only reason to hold off on five stars is that the moments that could have been angsty are muted. That approach fits with the sun-drenched and starlit quality of the narrative, but I could have gone for just a hint more emotional depth. Despite that, this is a perfect book for a comfort read, as it sweeps in languorous arcs to a joyful ending. The bi-for-you aspect is convincing in its progression, and both characters are true to themselves and a pleasure to spend time with.

4.5 - Screw work, this book was brilliant.

Okay, back for more and will continue to think on this. I loved it, truth be told. Loved the story, the symbolism, the relationship, location all of it. There were a few bits that fell off at the end, loose ends, that I would have liked to have seen tied up, but it was still such a great story!!

Once I started this, I couldn't stop! <3
I love Nicholas and David! And the butterflies! They learned so much from each other! I love the butterfly comparisons and the butterfly name, my heart!
I really like the Australian lingo as well! It just sounds so dreamy, lol! I love reading about new places, so educational as well! I enjoyed reading this one! :)

What an odd but wonderful read! Written so lyrically and beautifully with magical prose. David and Nicholas come together first as friends on that mystical road trip to find blue butterflies and then emerge, almost as if they were butterflies themselves, as a loving couple. Some of the pacing was a bit off and I had to re-read parts to really understand - As if to say to myself "Oh, that's what happened." Particularly the end
so that was a marriage proposal?!
. But the combination of Aboriginal culture and beliefs combined with the sexual awakening of David made this an awesome read. The secondary characters were well drawn - loved Denny and Charlie. And the immersion into Australia and the language kept me engaged. Onto book #2.

It's very much a fairy tale of a modern romance. I adored the descriptions of the Outback, especially the dawn, the huge blue sky and the night starscape, as well as the lure of what looks on the surface to be just endless scrub. There are places out in the west of America like that, and they are magical.

The modern element came in with friendships made via Twitter - which made me giggle when set against such a timeless setting.

I don't think a hero's smiles have ever been as detailed as Nicholas' 1,000 smiles are in David's eyes. It's a long slow burn of a fall, and quite enjoyable. David's personality makes absolutely perfect sense for him and the story -- he feels absolutely real. Nicholas is a bit more of a Prince Charming.

The only unbelievable note in this fable came at the very end. I just don't believe Nicholas' family would have been quite so quick to act in the way they did with a stranger.

Fun book. Absolutely GLORIOUS cover. I'm thrilled to own this in print and would like to get a little display stand to prop it up about my place. :-).
