Not a standalone, but I didn't actually read book 1. I felt like this one could stand on its own, and I'm not sure if I'll go back and ready the first, as I'm assuming I wouldn't get any closer to discovering where Mercy and Mom are.

I have been a great fan of David Baldacci across his various moods, styles and characters, but not this one. To me it just didn't measure up to what I am very aware he can do so much better. Rubbish.

I felt like this one wasnt great for a thriller. So much back and forth with characters before anything really meaningful comes out. Even the killings take a while to get going and don't lead to that much. The last 1/3 with the reveal of the real mastermind was pretty good, the pace really picked up. But between the slow murder investigation and the retreading of family history with very few results, it took a long time to get interesting.

Good audiobook mystery for travel.

Another good series by Baldacci!

I really enjoyed reading this book.

What I liked about this book is how there are essentially two stories intertwined with each other and in the meantime you are learning more about the main character. At the same time, there are many twists and turns along the way. Of course, the story doesn't end with this book. I wonder what the next one will be like.

A good read.

Sometimes gripping sometimes not. Kind of lost me toward the end. Too convoluted

I love this author's Memory Man series, so I branched out to see if I'd like this series as well. For reasons I can't quite figure out, this book just didn't draw me in. The characters are likeable, the story was fairly interesting, but something just didn't click.
I found it really slow until almost halfway; even though it picked up then, it still didn't hold me like other Baldacci books have.
I'm not sure if I'll read more Atlee Pine books in the future.
