Oh my goodness did I love this reading this book, I read with this book with a mix of an Ebook and a physical copy. This was the cutest little love story, I love the little loves story that happened in this book.
This book could is going to leave me in a book hangover, it was so good, I am still thinking about it. I will be looking into her other books.
Beautifully written, very heartfelt and emotional read as well. I just could not get enough, I kind of wish the book was longer I don't know how she would have made it longer but I am sure it would have been good. There were times during the night when I was trying to fall asleep because I had work the next day and all I wanted to do was read this book.
This book was my perfect romance book. It was fantastic.
Now all I need to know is when is she writing another wonderful story like this.

A modern-day Romeo and Juliet style Romance between two Kosher bakeries, sign me up! As someone who lives with chronic pain, I felt very seen in this book! The struggle to be taken seriously by doctors and the endless cycle of trying and failing to feel better was so real! I loved that she brought a focus on medical marijuana. It is something that helps me when my pain flairs and I feel like the stigma surrounding it is still so dicy. I enjoyed Ethan as the main hero. His passion for his siblings and for helping Avital was so precious. I loved the focus on Jewish joy but sometimes it felt forced. Never have I ever compared a butt to challah buns and the audio narrator often mispronounced Yiddish words which took me out of it.

Overall, I thought this book was so cute!

I loved the romance between Avital and Ethan and thought the supporting characters were hilarious and perfect for the story!

The romance was emotionally and physically healing and focused on intimacy rather than sex. I thought Meltzer did a wonderful job writing this romantic comedy, and I loved the weaving of Jewish culture into the story. It was so beautiful to read as a Jewish person.

Also, anyone fan casting Rabbi Jason as anyone OTHER than Seth Rogan is wrong

I cannot say enough good things about this book. I learned so much about Jewish culture, keeping kosher, the meaning behind the strictures around intimacy and the female cycle . Mad respect! What on the surface sounds backward, demeanig, maybe even misogynistic, is in reality meant to perpetuate true intimacy. It was a good reminder to me to quit making judgments about some practices of other cultures.

Don't accuse me of vague-booking. In Jewish culture, women and men only share a bed for 2 weeks out of the month. While the woman is menstruating and for seven days after, she is "unclean." Eww! Women is dirty? NO! Okay, so how it works out in actual PRACTICE is that during the two weeks they sleep apart, they don't talk about sex, don't intimate about it. But the couple does sweet little romantic things for each other. In good modern practice, maybe they send each other a text during the work day. Or they buy a little treat for the other. Or flowers. A little note left on a pillow. They hold hands, cuddle. So that when the two weeks is up, they can't WAIT to share a bed together again, and they feel cherished in the process.

The other thing the author addresses is chronic pain and the toll it can take on the people who experience it. TW; there is a brief discussion of suicide, which is an important topic to talk about in relation to chronic pain. This author GETS it. She understands the endless cycles of doctors, specialists, horrible procedures, only to be told "There's nothing I can do, here let me under-prescribe any kind of helpful pain management solutions." The author doesn't leave it there, though. She reframes chronic pain and shows us how the protagonist makes peace with the body she has. I really loved that. It was a good re-frame for me.

Jewish culture and modern Jewish practice, chronic pain, these topics are revealed very naturally, without the dreaded inf0-dump. I appreciated that.

The romance story line is pretty sweet, and the writing is good. I went through and reserved every title this author has available. I cannot wait to learn more.

Having a protagonist who has extreme chronic pain gave me insight into that life, which I appreciated. We need more of that representation in books, especially romances. I also want to eat a ton of Jewish baked delicacies now, but I don't know where to find them in RVA. Guess I need to travel! 💙
