Over on reddit, in r/books, this author & book get recommended a lot. It's a big 'un, but it moves swiftly and was very enjoyable. I described it in r/books as 'toothsome', because it conveys a very dense, epic and well developed world. My only complaints are stylistic ones: he turns to the well of fantasy metaphor fairly frequently ('red as flame', or 'whipcord thin'), and is a little heavy-handed with the foreshadowing. What I appreciate is that, instead of the typical Hero's Hero, we have one who is incredibly bright but has a raging ego and ADHD-like qualities that rightly land him into trouble more often than not.

Wow, I love this book so much. Beautiful language and a compelling story. It's a slow read, but a good kind of slow like you're savoring a good meal. And it was a re-read too. I think I caught on to a lot more this time around.

Honestly, this book wasn’t at all what I expected and heard from people. It was ok….but not the MIND BLOWING & LIFE CHANGING book it was made out to be.
I personally think the Sun Eater does the biographical storytelling a lot better, it actually made us care about Hadrian like halfway through the book. In this, I finished the book and still can’t give a shit if Kvothe died or lived.
I will read the second book simply because I want to see how this story of our “fabulous” and “mighty” MC will end.

All in all, this book was a letdown from the IMMENSE hype I received from basically everyone except for few.

SLIGHT SPOILERS FOR THIS BOOK AND THE SUN EATER SERIES!!!!! ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss is beautiful book --- a slow melancholy that's as sad as  relaxing and inspiring . A musical masterpiece that blends in theology . It's about a boy who lives  his life in many ways : as a ruh having a beloved family , as a beggar and filth in the streets of Tarbean, as a famous and sometimes notorious student in The University. To some people a arrogant brat ; to others , he is the only one who understands them ; for some , he is someone they love in a way even they don't know.
Overall, The Name of the Wind is heroic tale of Kvothe as he constantly struggles to thrive in the world but has flaws of his own .
