((I read all 24 volumes, but I am only shelving this volume because it's my list and I can do whatever I want!!))
Small caveat- I have watched parts 1 through 6, but this is the first JJBA part I have read. Comparisons to previous parts are comparing it to the Anime!!
OVERALL this part is very strong. In all of the other parts, there is always that one character or stand ability that I was just actively repulsed by (see Iggy) or thought was so nonsensical it was dumb. While the main villain's stand ability is difficult to understand at first, it definitely is not as difficult to grasp as the villain's abilities in part 5 or part 6. Even the non-stand using characters have a dynamic presence which is definitely not the case for earlier parts.
Now, the plot... I always rolled my eyes when people would explain it to me but for some reason it just works. Personally, I really really really dislike horses (I am from where the Kentucky Derby is held so I am allowed to have this opinion, suck it)- and still I could enjoy this part!! I think the race plot is interesting and exciting, and then all the other stuff seems to surround it pretty nicely. Overall ,the only reason I docked a star is because honestly.... sometimes Araki's dialogue can just be so convoluted and you have to re-read it to even understand the purpose (hint, sometimes there just is no purpose to what he makes the characters say!!)

I've been hearing that this was the best JoJo part for a loooong time so it was pretty exciting to actually have a copy of it in my hands and read it!!
I have to say, obviously I'm super early on in this part, but I really really enjoyed it. I love the race dynamic and I think it will create some really interesting Stand battles.
Gyro Zepelli is so cool and Johnny Joestar honestly surprised me. From his design I always assumed he'd be a very passive and timid character, but he's actually a bit of a dick which I love?
Anyway, Araki's art continues to impress. I can't wait to keep reading!
