"π°π πππβππ πππ ππππππππ, π° πππππππ πππ πππβπ ππππ ππ πππ ππππ."
The story of Jude Duarte and Cardan continues on in Holly Black's, The Wicked King. Just as captivating and twisted as the first book, we follow Jude as she tries to establish her place in the High Court. Jude essentially has full control of the crown, but there is a catch: Jude only has control of now turned King, Cardan, for a year and one day according to their bargain. Months go by quickly, and Jude is running out of time as she tries to keep her brother Oak safe from Faerie, her political interests intact, and tame our lovely King Cardan. And taming she does, as romantic tension builds between the two.
Wow what a great sophomore novel to the trilogy! I could not stop thinking about Jude and Cardan and this little world Black had created. I truly felt immersed in this story, and felt as if I was right there with Jude during her adventures. I loved getting to know the characters and the world more. And the TENSION between Cardan and Jude! UGH. I have not obsessed over a book couple this much since Feyre and Rhysand from the ACOTAR series. I did not want it to end and am greedy for more. I am very anxious for the final book and do not know how this one will end. Because that twist ending was crazy!! I have so many questions and will promptly be buying The Queen of Nothing.
My only criticism is that I once again just wanted more pages. I need more time with the side characters. I need more filler! I need more Jude and Cardan moments!! Also I will say, I wish that this series was made for adults, because I would have loved to see some of those closed door moments. But this is a YA, so I must be fair and not let that affect my overall rating.

oh my goodness i could not put this book down.
the politics, the betrayals, the tensions, the romance.
everything kept me on my toes, and even when i could see something coming, i was begging it wasnβt.
cardan - so imperfect but i love him. i cant even word my thoughts about this man, but his growth as a character is so intense, whether itβs for better or worse. but the same can be said about everyone.
this world has me in the palm of its hand

This book is difficult for me to rate. I hate the writing style, I didn't find it enjoyable. But the plot, oh the plot was so fun! And I especially loved the ending, I didn't see that coming!
