Hannah will do anything to bring life back to her town and Severin will do anything to stay in the Earth realm. They strike a bargain that gives both of them what they want. The only problem is that Hannah has to win a magical bridal trial using magic she just found out she has and doesn't know how to use. What could possibly go wrong?
Cozy, fun, silly, lighthearted, feel good with just the right amount of spice. This was such a quick and easy read. I had fun the whole way through and had a hard time putting this book down. Krista created a universe I can't wait to dive back into.

ARC review!

I loved this next "stage" of the Moon Blade series! It was great seeing some familiar faces and letting Severin really get his shadow daddy redemption arc. I loved that the story was low-angst without being no-conflict, and it was just the perfect blend of exciting, cozy, and spicy. As always with Krista Luna's stories, the MCs complemented each other perfectly and the supporting cast was amazing and added so much depth to the story. Really enjoyed this book and excited to see what's next for Ferndale Falls!

🖤 “You, Hannah, are the missing piece of my soul.”
~~~
Hannah is the best! As the youngest mayor of Ferndale Falls, she has quite a lot on her plate. But she’s not a woman who’d easily back down from a challenge. I just loved her indefatigable spirit and big heart - that woman will do so much to take care of everyone. Hannah is so compassionate, caring, kind and hard-working. And she’s so fun. Even more, I loved her courage and strength to face anything that stands in her way. Hannah is a truly incredible woman and I adored her so, so much!
And then, enters King Severin of the Shadow Fae, a.k.a grumpy shadow Daddy with a teeny-tiny obsession with baked goods and who’s also in recovery from being a villain! Severin is smug, confident and quite bossy. But underneath all the “I-can-crush-nations” vibes lies a man with a big and caring heart. Let me tell you, Severin doesn’t do anything halfway whether it comes to romantic gestures, research or building new businesses in Ferndale Falls. I loved his determination and resourcefulness. And that dirty-talking mouth of his! Severin throwing the occasional “good girl” at the right moment will melt your pant… I mean… heart! The King of the Shadow Fae is one phenomenal male and I couldn’t help but adore every single thing about him!
I absolutely loved everything that happened between Hannah and Severin! After defeating the Dark God, the Shadow Fae King wants to give his people a better life. But in order to stay on Earth, he needs a bride. So, Severin offers Hannah a bargain she cannot refuse - he will protect Ferndale Falls if they marry for a year and a day. And by Fae tradition, there were also bridal trials… Yeah, Hanna has her work cut out for her.
I absolutely adored those two together! Hannah and Severin’s chemistry was phenomenal and every banter and shared moment was a true delight to read. I just couldn’t get enough of them! What started as an arrangement very quickly became something so much more and I was all in for everything that happened. And the spice… Oh, the spice was absolutely SPICING. Ah, the things Severin could do with those naughty shadows of his! 🫠 The Shadow Fae King and the Mayor of Ferndale Falls were so, so perfect for each other and more than deserved to find happiness and love together. (And their wedding ceremony was just… BEAUTIFUL!)
In addition, the storyline was incredible! The bridal trials kept me on my toes the whole time. Even more, I loved watching Ferndale Falls bloom with all the Fae creatures opening businesses with glorious names despite all the magical chaos. Then, there was also Hannah’s familiar - Finn - I adored this sassy fox so much. And last, but absolutely not least, the Witch Bitch Spicy Book Club - that group of witches are the best ones ever!
Overall, Faking with the Fae King is a fun, cozy and delightfully naughty story and I absolutely loved every single page of it! And I cannot wait to see what happens in Ferndale Falls next!
I dove in for the fake marriage, but I stayed for the shadow daddy, the magical bakery shenanigans, the spicy knot action, and a town so cozy I’d sell my soul to move in tomorrow.
Faking with the Fae King is pure chaotic romantasy bliss. It blends magical mayhem with soft, sizzling romance and somehow manages to be both laugh-out-loud funny and emotionally satisfying. Hannah is the mayor trying to keep her magical town from imploding, and Severin is the morally gray (and grumpy) shadow fae king trying very hard not to fall in love with his fake fiancée, all so he can give his people a better life. Spoiler: he fails beautifully.
Severin calling her “good girl” repeatedly? Chef's kiss. The flying scenes? I was feral. And watching Hannah slowly break through Severin’s shadows with her warmth and relentless care? Utterly heart-melting.
I need a full map of Ferndale Falls immediately, the shop names are everything!!
The pizza place - Slice of Life
The jeweler - Bling it On
The florist - Oopsy Daisy
The bookshop - I touch my Shelf
The bakery - Cake My day
The dress shop - Haute and Bothered
Krista Luna nailed the balance of cozy and spicy, magic and emotion, redemption and ridiculous fae nonsense. If you like your rom-coms with magical mishaps, dirty-talking fae kings, and just enough heart to make you swoon between steam sessions, this one will ruin you in the best way. Sign me up for a one-way trip to Ferndale Falls. And maybe… a shadow daddy of my own.
Thank you to the author for this advance copy.
Adorable! 🥰 I really had fun reading this! It gives all the spicy fun times of a shadow fae king with the sweet heart of a mayor who wants the best for the people around her and works tirelessly to make it happen! The found family and loyal gal pals are truly a joy and make you want to be sitting with them, in the local bookstore (I Touch My Shelf 🤭) , drinking custom cereal milk cocktails and eating coordinating cupcakes!
I simply cannot wait to see what happens next in Ferndale falls!!! The variety of fae species and available witches promise for fun galore!
OMG, I want a shadow daddy! Severin is hot hot hot! He ties her up with his shadows, he f*cks her with his shadows, even his c*ck makes shadows! He does it all to give her mind blowing pleasure.
This book is more than spice. The romance is really sweet with fake dating turning into something real. The date Severin takes her on is the best date ever! I haven’t laughed this much in a long time. The tulips, the pixies, the fox are all so funny! And the bride trials were exciting without being dangerous.
There’s the best group of witch best friends too. I want to join their book club. I loved the cozy small town. I can picture it so clearly in my mind. I wish I could visit!
Fake it for real!
This was such a sweet "we started out fake, but fell for each other" romance.  I also love the suble foreshadowing fo the side characters and their stories as well.
Severin is a shadow fae that until recently, was under the servitude of the dark god.  He fought against him and won the freedom for him adn his people.  But Severin knows that he needs to connect his dying world to Earth.  He seeks out the leader of the town, Hannah and proposes a marraige to help both, Mayor Hannah's town and Severin's people be able to come to Earth.  Only problem is in order to marry her, she's got to compete in the bride trials first.  And oh yeah, she has magic but doesn't konw how to use it....like at all.  So while Severin teaches her they spend as much time together as possible.  AND, they go on dates to make sure the town things theirs is a true love story.  Severin's ex is dtermined to win and ensure she marries him.  Hannah knows she can't let that happen.
This book is now my entire personality. The cozy cuteness made me squeal, the funny parts made me giggle, and the romance had me kicking my feet. The spice was next level and melted my ereader.
Hannah’s worked tirelessly for years to try to save her small town. She needs a miracle. She gets a grumpy shadow daddy trying to leave his warrior past behind for a new life on earth. He’s devious and smart and morally gray but underneath it all, there’s a softer side of a man who wants some damned good bread and to spoil his woman with a royally swoony date!
The bride trials added the perfect bit of low-stakes suspense. I was rooting for Hannah so hard! The fake engagement tension was so good. That first kiss! The spice is so spicing! I’ve never seen a shadow daddy use his shadows like Severin does. God, what I’d let that man do to me!
I want to live in Ferndale Falls. I want to eat pixie pizza and to play with the walking tulips. I want a sassy animal familiar and to join the Witch Bitch Spicy Book Club.
The funniest, coziest, spiciest book I’ve ever read. This shot immediately to my top five! I love all of Krista Luna’s books, but this is a new favorite. I can’t wait to return to Ferndale Falls!
Cozy romantasy with a morally gray shadow daddy MMC? Yes please!
Hannah is the mayor of a small town that is slowly dying. She also recently found out that she's a witch, but can't figure out what her magic is.
Then Severin, king of the shadow fae and a former bad guy (now in his redemption era), shows up one day promising Hannah that he will help her bring businesses and tourism back to her town as well as protect it. All she has to do is marry him for a year and agree to let the shadow fae stay in earth. Oh, and win the fae bride contest.
Their romance, though starting out as fake, quickly becomes more and more real, with Severin realizing that for the first time in his life he is caring for someone other than himself and Hannah seeing the good man that has been hidden for years under the mask of terrifying warlord.
If you love:
-shadow daddy fae
-competent and kind FMCs
-magic lessons
-cozy small towns
-smallfae hijinks
-adorable fox familiars
-grand gestures
then you will adore Faking with the Fae King.
This was everything I wanted it to be and more! A spicy, magical, small-town rom-com with a shadow daddy in emotional recovery? Sign me up! Severin’s redemption arc from morally grey fae king to softie in love was incredibly satisfying—especially once he realized he was all in and started showing up for Hannah. *swoon*
I’m fully obsessed with Finn, Hannah’s sassy fox familiar, and all the other magical creatures sprinkled throughout. And the pizza pixies moving into Ferndale Falls??! I loved them in the Brides of the Moon Blade Clan series, so seeing them again was so much fun.
The spice? Definitely open door—with a little extra flair, thanks to some mid-air shadow magic that had me fanning myself.
Huge thanks to Krista Luna for the ARC copy! I cannot wait for more in the Ferndale Falls Forever series. Cozy, chaotic, and full of heart—I’m moving in.
