Dangerous King is the first book in the Street Kings Series. I have been dying to get my hands on this book. I just haven’t had the time to read it until now.
This is Danika “Dani”and Nikhil “Nik” King’s story. Dani and Nik were street kids from the poor side of the tracks and were friends until Danika’s Uncle Ashok Shah rescued her from poverty. She then became indispensable to him. But that put her in a gilded cage. One she wanted out of and she wanted to ruin Uncle Ashok. She just bides her time. It’s now 15 years later. It’s time.
I was really surprised with the ending that it wasn’t a cliffhanger! But an ending that makes me very much want to continue their story! I loved the story! Now I have to go and get Vicious King!

okay this book was something else. it was good but the writing seemed a little bit rushed at times. like i wish we got to see the past alongside the present and got to see how their relationships were formed and blossomed.
it was soo cute to see how crazy they’ve been for each other since their teenage years and how much time they lost when they were separated. love me some good friends to strangers to lovers.
ngl the mc’s name is the same as my bf’s and at times it was so weird to read about. i was like ‘tf you doing in a book having sex with a girl that’s not me dude?’ and he’s so confused haha.
anyways, i’m really looking forward to jay and kir’s story, they seem to have a little more potential than nik and dani imo.

Audio Review:
A breathtaking look at a beautiful heart with a hard edge. Dangerous King is a brokenly gritty love story. Danika and Nik leave bruises on the soul. Their story is one of secrets, pain and passion. There are no winners in their world. Only a haunting rawness that leaves deeply embedded scars. Snow has a gift for placing the most interesting characters in the most heartbreaking of circumstances.

These two leads had the most intense chemistry I've ever read! My only issue was at times the pacing seemed a bit rushed but oh man their chemistry really made up for that!
This book grabbed my attention and kept me on the edge of my seat all the way until the end! I loved everything about this. The writing was amazing and the narration was perfect! Such amazing characters that you can’t help but fall in love with. I can’t wait to see what comes next!
Finidng a mafia romance that centers BIPOC voices, especially those from the East and West Indies was not what I was ever expecting to find in a genre that is dominated by mafiaoso, bratvas and the occasional triad or yakuza. But when a BookToker that I trust (Ayushi - best recs hands down) wa raving about this book and series, I had to give it a try.
It lived up to the expected hype - a mafia romance between a Desi girl and a Trinidadian Desi man that ends up with a marriage of convenience who is also possessive and hints at the start of an interconnected series of books that follow the characters was something that I knew I was going to become immersed and enjoy. Having the book take place in New York, where I know many of the areas that are referenced in the book, made it even more enjoyable as I was able to follow and understand the cultural references and food points.
However, I was furstrated that Snow relied so much on the previous relationship that both characters shared when they were little to keep the narrative going and not show any new development between the characters. We're kind of led to believe that they have been keeping this flame for each other even though they have not seen each other for 15 years. I'm also a stickler for motivationa and intent in mafia romances/novels. It might be naive of me to say that, but your heroes and villains need to have. a motive/rhyme/reason for doing what they do. With Ashok Shah being the principle villain in the book, we never really saw the why of why he did what he did, and how that motivated his actions and lack of concern for his actions. In turn, we see the same issue with Danika and her cousin who we meet in the book and setting up the couple for the next book. There's a lack of seriousness and desperation, though we are told that she is in danger and that they are fighting a war with such high stakes.
Another thing that for me was frustrating was that this read like a novella - as if I should've already had the information about them prior to reading the novel and knew all of these things, which would not be possible (unless Snow connects her books).
Despite those misgivings, I am still interested in learning what happens next, and look forward to picking up the remaining books in the series.

I received an ARC and I'm freely reviewing.
Wow!! Nikhil and Danila are wonderful. So, I know this may be weird but I have never actually read this author before. I've heard great things of her and her stories. I walked into this series blind and I loved it. Nik and Danila grew up together, both have suffered heart break early and lived with too many secrets. That just makes them stronger and fiercer, there's no give between them. I enjoyed how Nik is completely committed to Danila's protection and keeping her safe and other items safe as well.
I definitely cannot wait until the next book
