I enjoyed it but I didn't love it. I suspect that Pratchett's books are the kind of books you have to read more then once to appreciate. You read them once for the story and then again numerous other times for his commentary on things and the little nuances and in jokes. I'd certainly be open to trying more of his work.

Death as Santa Claus? Need I say anything more? Terry Pratchett, you were a LITERAL GENIUS. The humor is so on point, this might be the best Death novel I've read yet (although Thief of Time cuts it close). And the moment when
Death made the public appearance in the shop as the Hogfather
was HILARIOUS, it's everything you want out of the character of
Death
. If you love Terry Pratchett, you need to read this book!

Terry Pratchett is really good at taking premises that sound like they would be cheesy and making them genuinely heartwarming. I love seeing old characters show new sides to themselves when they interact with new characters.

thinking I may make reading this one a yearly Xmas tradition.
