He was known to Ankh- Morpork’s professional underclass as a thoughtful, patient man, and considered something of an intellectual because some of his tattoos were spelled right.
Hogfather is another excellent chapter in the Discworld. A cozy and charming rendition of christmassy themes which is used very creatively to do some disc-worldbuilding. The humor is this book is very very good, just as expected from a Discworld novel, but I think it could have been more focused.
NOW WE MUST BE GOING. HAPPY HOGSWATCH. ER . . . OH, YES: HO. HO. HO.
He pushed the page down again. “No, you stay still, sonny. Else you’ll just be a paragraph.”
Terry Pratchett's brilliant prose combines with his deeply thematic approach is holiday treat. His messaging on social issues is on point and a delightful addition to this Christmas story, giving me serious Christmas Carol vibes. Mild thematic spoiler:

“All I know is, if Dad’d caught us with a big bag of pricey toys we’d just have got a ding round the ear hole for nicking ’em.”
IT IS . . . UNFAIR.
“That’s life, master.”
BUT I’M NOT.
“I meant, this is how it’s supposed to go, master,” said Albert.
NO. YOU MEAN THIS IS HOW IT GOES.
I think I didn't like this book as much as I would usually expect to enjoy a Discworld novel. I think the main reason is the plot seemed to meander a little too much. But the characters make up for it. DEATH and Susan take a big step up in their characterization. These two may be one of my favorite duos in fantasy!
Overall a great book.

Slightly amusing that I read what is effectively a Christmas book in July, but oh well. This was my first return to death as a character since mort (am I reading discworld out of order? Yes. Do I care? Not particularly) and I enjoyed it immensely. Death and it’s related characters might be my favourite across the whole of discworld. The death of rats is definitely a highlight!
I think I enjoy being read Discworld books even more than I enjoy reading them. I wanted to listen to this one over Christmas, but instead I finished it as I was taking the Christmas tree down. Fitting.

It's interesting but a little too silly for me. It might deserve a second reading since I read fast for the plot, but the writing and the subtle commentary may be worth a re-read

I hate to give any Pratchett a low rating, but I have to say the ableism in the descriptions of Teatime, Banjo, and The Beggars was just grating.
