Elizabeth grew on me, I'm going to miss the Rivers family! It did pale to the previous novel though.
Rating: 4/5 Stars
I know when I started this, I was really worried I wouldn't like Elizabeth, but my fears were unwarranted! She's different from her mother, but still has some qualities that are very girl boss, intelligent, basically a woman who's opinions and ideas are honestly interesting.
I think the mystery of the two princes in the towers is fascinating and I am generally so curious about it now that the book left it on a cliffhanger. In some ways I'm mad that Philippa didn't lay it out for us, but I think it's more authentic to what we know about history. I think it does provide hints as to what happened, but there are still so many questions left unanswered.
The pacing in this novel was way better, perhaps just because it didn't start with Elizabeth being so young. I think it really allows us to grow and change with the character, instead of just adapting to the changes like we were forced to do in Jacquetta's novel.
Again, I'm a little nervous about the next novel but this is mainly because the next novel is based on someone outside the family, and also because she's very religious and is portrayed in this novel as kind of a boring and self-righteous religious woman.
These books are somewhat of a guilty pleasure and I don't have too much to critique in them because of it. I am greatly enjoying the series though!
Rating System:
★ - Avoid at all costs. Don't even look at it.
★★ - I would recommend for people not to read it.
★★★ - It was okay. I might recommend for certain people.
★★★★ - I'd recommend it to most people.
★★★★★ - I'd literally gift this to someone. Must read.

I know almost nothing about England's history, so I found this story very interesting, even though there was a bit of fiction added in.
