Very interesting take on the mystery of the princes in the tower. Always a good read with Gregory.
A brilliant account of the War of the Roses - even though I am familiar with this period of history I found this book broadened my knowledge of the subject and made me invest in it even more. Elisabeth Woodville - a Queen who is often disliked in history - was a fantastically strong female heroine and her connections to the water goddess Melusina were enchanting to read about. I was emotionally invested in the story and was very happy to read so many facts in this novel as this period is interesting enough to read about without having to introduce too many fictional subplots. I really enjoyed reading about Elisabeth's rise to power and her loving relationship with King Edward. Overall, a fantastic, page-turner which had me enthralled till the very last page.

The first of a trilogy set during the battles of the Houses of Lancaster and York. Very good.
Love Philippa's books and this one was as super as her others I have read.
Great for historical and historical fiction buffs alike

This historical fiction novel sucked me into the world of the family of York. Such a great introduction to Philippa Gregory’s writing style, plot, and characterization. I’ll definitely need to read the rest of her books.
If you like historical fiction and the war of the Roses this is a good read. Very easy and fun.
I'm giving up on reading books by Phillipa Gregory after this one. If she really wants to fill her books with crap about witches and water goddesses she should come up with her own material and stop pretending she's an historian.
Very beautiful book. Especially if you are interested in de 1400's and the history of England. I enjoyed reading it very much and plan on reading more books by Philippa Gregory and The Cousinss' War series. I have read this book in Dutch but it is just as good.
