It was a very great historical book. It shows us the real and magical life of Elizabeth Woodville. We see the intrigues in the England. But there was a lot of Edwards, Georges, Richards, Elizabeths... It was a little bit confusing for me. But it was good. If you're interested in the historical novels, you should read it.

This book was close to being 4 stars until near the end. The majority of the book wasn't that bad apart from the usual repetition/Tudor bashing/obvious attempts of foreshadow. What dropped this down a star was the Elizabeth of York/Richard III stuff, historically there's very little evidence to support it and in general is very uncomfortable to read about.

Great read based on historical events. I would have given it 5 stars but the ‘second sanctuary’ section was a bit monotonous. Overall though definitely worth a read.
First of all, the writing style wasn't my thing.
I didn't like how fast it was in the beginning like, I feel like it was so unusual and so unreal how they just together (but I seemed to enjoy it? what's wrong with me?). I enjoy the politics part but the rest seemed to be just boring to me. Though I really am caught up with the whole historical events, this book lacks depth (especially with the characters) that I needed to keep me reading (it took me days to finish it).
Also I just can't with the "whole myth thing".
OVERALL. Gonna give this 3 star for the sake of the politics thing and the 1st hundred pages that I think I enjoyed.
I'm still having thoughts with this book and I might freaking change this review soon.

My absolute favourite from the Cousins' War series (perhaps affected by my watching the BBC documentary), but Elizabeth Woodville's story is the one that gripped me the most, and her relationship with Edward, I feel, adds more depth to this novel than to some of the others. In comparison to marriages arranged solely for power or position, the love story combined in this novel really does appeal to the romantic in me (who has read one too many chick-lit books in her time!). I can not recommend the Gregory novels enough, and have passed them on and recommended them to many friends who enjoy this genre. I have read quite a few low scored reviews, and personally I am very surprised. If you wish to dissect these books from a historical point of view, or assess it as if in a Literature class then feel free, each to their own. Personally, I read for enjoyment and entertainment and this series has certainly delivered on both. Excellent.
I suspect that, had I read [b:The White Queen|5971165|The White Queen (Cousins' War, #1)|Philippa Gregory|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1255579285s/5971165.jpg|13560666] first, I would have understood and enjoyed [b:Richard III|743385|Richard III (The Pelican Shakespeare)|William Shakespeare|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1309284547s/743385.jpg|2913597] far more. I do not find [a:Philippa Gregory|9987|Philippa Gregory|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1279316586p2/9987.jpg] to be a particularly compelling author, but the subject matter fascinates me. I cannot say where this fascination with the Tudors and now their Yorkist and Lancastrian ancestors first began, but it seems to be quite persistent. I will almost certainly read more of these books. They are a pleasant diversion from anything serious. Well, pleasant other than all of the dying. And children being used as pawns. And children dying. What happened to the princes in the Tower anyway?
