Ah! E Escobar.
Eu amo o Escobar.

An intimate, honest and poignant dive into the life of an individual, exposing all the complexities and intricacies of this human existence. The narrator, always focused on the protagonist, invites the reader to ask themselves a few questions, the most important, perhaps: did Capitu cheated on Bentinho or not? It is partially a joke but I am quite certain this question will haunt Brazilian literature like no other.

She didn't cheat, but by god she should have. He projects onto her his insecurities and as an unreliable narrator, the end of the book is absolutely biased and told in such a manner to convince the reader of the characters ideas. In the end, no, she didn't cheat, but he got so annoying and maniacal that I feel if she had, it would've been justified.
