This book has a smut driven plot. This is the type of book I don't take super seriously. It's not trying to build this crazy plot with twists and turns you don't see coming. It's simply smutty fun. Heavy daddy and baby girl kink and bdsm. The smut is decent if your into this kind of thing. Here's my thing about the daddy kink... I don't mind it in bedroom scenes but when it gets used all the time it just makes me a little uncomfortable. It's just not my thing. I like Jasmine. She is strong-willed "sorta" because she does seem to give in a lot easier then I would prefer ( but again smut driven plot so why would she put up to much of a fight)
Here is one of my main issues. Jafar isn't a good man and doesn't pretend to be. But there doesn't seem to be a clear reason why she warms to him and he becomes less her capture and more her lover willingly. It's just like "well the sex is good sooooo". Like there's not a huge turn of events that cause her to realize she likes him. But on the same note, she admits to herself that she is falling for him and then decides she wants to try and flee him...like what? I do like the ending. That she saves herself from Ali, takes up the mantel as "Queen" and then makes Jafar bend the knee.

I am reading this for the 2nd time and still think it entertaining. Just don't take it to seriously or I think you will be disappointed.

as jasmine’s world burned around her, jafar, her enemy, offered her a choice: walk away with nothing but her freedom, or rise to his challenge and win her fortune back. she took on his challenge, but lost, so now she plays by his rules. despite this, she can’t help but feel she’s falling for him…

i’ve read (and enjoyed!) a few of katee robert’s dark olympus books, so i figured it was time to give this series a go (ignore the fact that i haven’t finished that other series yet…). i don’t really have much to say about this book, honestly. i enjoyed it, though, and will be reading the sequel at some point!

Little slap in the face of morally grey spice! I really enjoyed this twisted take on Jasmine and Jafar!

A spice level is pretty high, even though it’s not my personal favorite kind of heat, it was a great retelling of Jasmine & Jafar, there is some dubcon, make sure you are mindful of you have triggers.
