This was definitely a good start for my journey into Norse Mythology. Before this book the majority of my information came from the Marvel universe, and while there are some aspects that are based on Norse Mythology, I assume Marvel took some liberties with the primary material. Saying that this book is also a fictional story and the author admits taking some liberties as well, but it definitely made me to want to look into the Mythology more. I need to learn more about the Mother of Monsters.

Cool book. Kind of like a Norse version of the Madeline Miller books, which is an easy sell by itself

As someone unfamiliar with Norse mythology, I really enjoyed the way Genevieve Gornichec brings it to life. The Witch’s Heart was a solid read that kept me mostly engaged. I especially enjoyed Part One, where Angrboda begins her new life, forms meaningful relationships, and the story gradually reveals mysteries about her past and hints of what might come. However, Part Two didn’t quite deliver the same impact for me—I felt that the resolution of those mysteries could have been more powerful and emotionally resonant. If you're looking for more Norse-inspired fantasy, I personally enjoyed The Weaver and the Witch Queen by the same author even more!
