I really loved the illustrations and the story line and thought the author did a great job depicting weight-related body dysmorphia and problems with disordered eating. As someone who has only just started to reach body neutrality, I really related to Mindy’s struggles with body positivity and self esteem. As someone who is single, I also really related to how having a partner (or lack thereof) is consistently connected Mindy’s size. I wish that the author had made more of a point that the potential to attract a partner should not be a significant factor in anyone’s size/ weight, although I understand that that isn’t what this book was supposed to be about. My only other thing I think could have made this better is getting to have an epilogue or something where we get to see Mindy actually taking steps to help herself heal instead of ending the book with her essentially telling herself that she’s decided to take those steps, since that resolve will often waver and fade away before anything concrete is done. It was still a lovely and moving graphic novel, but I think it doesn’t quite embrace it’s full potential.

I really enjoyed this book. It showed how having an eating disorder can affect you and how bullying can also affect you.

A little too short to get the message across, but I liked the art style and the characters!
