I learned about Alice Wong via her recent GoFundMe and find her writing, knowledge and general way of being — and being activist — completely enchanting and inspiring.

This was a really difficult book to read. I felt very called out for my privilege, my ableism, and all the ways I have failed the disabled community. As challenging as it is to face, it's important to recognize where we fall short so that we continue to improve. I want to do better for my community, I want to take care of everyone, and I believe everyone has worth. As Alice Wong says, access is love!

Wong is a quick wit. She's intelligent, quippy, snarky, honest, direct, and funny. I immediately want to be her friend but I do fear I'm nowhere near as interesting enough to keep her friendship! Her writing seems to fully embody her and this mishmash of a memoir feels more like a journal, or as another reviewer said, a scrapbook. It feels like a perfect representation of Wong herself: a little bit goofy, a little messy at times, but full of heart and full of rage.

This is a book that everyone should read. It's not a book that everyone will like but that's kind of the point. No one likes to confront their shortcomings but how else will you grow?

Alice Wong is such a brilliant, funny, encapsulating writer. An essential scholar to read when it comes to Disability Justice. It changed me and continued to add to my understanding of what it means to live in this world as able-bodied person, knowing in life able-bodiedness is just temporary and we should always be fighting for a world that centers and celebrates disability.

It's a good book but she is very millennial and that is definitely coming across... would be 4 stars if not for that.

i had already read/listened to a lot of alice’s work so i felt a bit bummed that there wasn’t a lot of new-to-me content in this, but wonderful nonetheless!
