The idea of the story was good. Good pace and humour. Unfortunately, in the end I did not enjoy this book as a whole. There was so much repetition from the characters regarding what was happening. I felt like with each Cassie and Erin encounter I had to listen about it until the next encounter. And their encounters and their feelings about each encounter were exactly the same. Also, I almost gave up reading just because the phrase "we're best friends" felt like it was said every five minutes. I get it, Cassie was a bestie to Parker and Erin is Parker's mom, we get where this is going.

I was influenced to read this book after hearing people commenting that it looks like a song that I like a lot. I was afraid of not liking it, mainly because of the plot that, if not handled correctly, would make the story a horrible one, but I was surprised to see how good the book is. The characters have chemistry, Cassie and Erin are beautiful together and from the beginning you find yourself rooting for their romance. The way their relationship was treated in relation to Parker was very mature, which was a positive surprise for me. Very good!

This is a beach read. Fun enough but not a lot of substance. Saccharine. Characters are weirdly foolish for how smart they are supposed to be

The mistake was reading this book. Bad writing, character development, pacing, cringy sex scenes, nonsensical plot, I could go on, but it's not worth it.

Perhaps worth noting --romance isn't super my genre, nor do I read a lot of non-BIPOC writers.
