The mistake was reading this book. Bad writing, character development, pacing, cringy sex scenes, nonsensical plot, I could go on, but it's not worth it.

Perhaps worth noting --romance isn't super my genre, nor do I read a lot of non-BIPOC writers.

wow i finished this book QUICKLY. good things first: the spice??? my god. had me on the floor, giggling, checking around me to see if anyone knew i was reading it. the chemistry between erin and cassie was insane. the writing of the romance was phenomenal. 4 stars bc the premise is a bit…weird??? ik that’s the point but idk if i’d be ok w my best friend marrying my mom…even if the age gap isn’t much. MILF romance tho…can’t complain too much

1. These two are the most ridiculously sweet couple ever
2. I feel this deep want for a book about gay Gwen now
3. The audacity of Adam to be enraged at them even though he tried to get into Cassie's pants by being a misogynistic pig is... not surprising tbh

But most of all this is just so so adorable. (And hot. But mostly adorable.)

This book made me feel icky. I did not care for the storyline, characters, or the copout ending. I know many people enjoyed it for the steamy scenes (which they were), but to me, there was a real issue with the Erin/Cassie dynamic, age gap, SES gap, and emotional intelligence gap. I finished because I always finish a book, but the ending was a copout, which I had a feeling it would have to be.
