Not a quick read, but kept my attention. I did struggle with keeping all the characters straight and then add in the nicknames of the mystery club members. I'll be re-reading Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None" to compare the 2.

"The lonely, rockbound island of Tsunojima is notorious as the site of a series of bloody unsolved murders. Some even say it’s haunted. One thing’s for sure: it’s the perfect destination for the K-University Mystery Club’s annual trip. But when the first club member turns up dead, the remaining amateur sleuths realise they will need all of their murder-mystery expertise to get off the island alive.
As the party are picked off one by one, the survivors grow desperate and paranoid, turning on each other. Will anyone be able to untangle the murderer’s fiendish plan before it’s too late?"

Very quick read. Reads like the skeleton of a detective story, a book more interested in creating a puzzle than an emotional journey. Pretty engaging.. Written in a very sparse, stark style for most of it but could've done with more of an emotional POV character.

Would only recommend if you like puzzles and read mysteries for the thrill of potentially solving one. Not my cup of tea, to be honest. Good book though.

As usual, I didn't work out the ending. I'm a little unsatisfied with the end, but we can't have it all.

It took a LOT of pushing through the first chapter of the book. The students were so annoying and pretentious, to the point where it made me think of If We Were Villains and
I hoped for most of their deaths
.

After that, I did really enjoy trying to work out the mystery and I've even stayed up late, despite being on call tomorrow. Ah, the commitment!
