I don’t know what finishing this series says about me especially cause they weren’t exactly 5 star books. But here we are.

Loved this book! Great conclusion to the Barnett brothers series. I read the first book and proceeded to binge read all Gemma's books up till just before this one came out. Then went off on a tangent but now I am back and read this one in a day.
Yes I will agree this isn't everyone's idea or cup of tea so please read the warnings Gemma puts in. The Men are Alpha's through and through and not everyone will like it. That being said I love the humour and Gemma's writing style that yes something's maybe shocking but if you flip some of the things these guys do to a woman doing it is not as crazy. Anyway enough of that.
Spice is definitely a five star for me and it ends with HEA. I don't want to give too many spoilers away.
So can we have a future set epilogue say 5 or 10 years later. A chapter explaining to the future kids about the "love at first sight" would make me chuckle.
Anyway loved it ❤️

Drop your feminism at the door, or skip this one if you can’t.

If you leave a crap review solely because you chose not to heed the very clear warnings, you are the worst kind of trash. I said what I said.

There are very clear warnings about the fact that these Barnett brothers are OTT Neanderthals. They are every red flag known to woman, and even some new ones you probably didn’t consider. This series is rife with obsession at first sight, some stalking, multiple kidnappings and forced proximity, some birth control tampering, lots of crude references to female anatomy and “breeding” their woman, total Neanderthal behavior, and Cody adds in a marriage forced by blackmail. Would these things ever be hot in the real world? Definitely not. Restraining orders would be in effect. But this isn’t the real world. This is the fantasy land where ridiculous mountain men fall instantly upon seeing their “one” and are so out of their minds that they don’t even care how ludicrous they are behaving. They’re also the closest family you ever saw, support each other unconditionally, and will move mountains to make sure their loved ones are safe and taken care of.

Cody faces a challenge his brothers did not: when he meets Betty, she already has a long-term boyfriend. His challenges are not few, but those Barnett boys don’t go down without a fight! I loved seeing all the other couples and their growing broods of children. While we have seen the last brother fall for his woman, we still have all those single fire jumpers out there, so I’m crossing all my parts and hoping we get some more of this ridiculous and delicious world.

I am ashamed I keep reading these…

Guilty pleasure doesn’t even describe these books. And honestly, I’m embarrassed I keep reading them.

What kind of author has to write a three page warning in the front of her book explaining that in a fictional world she can write whatever she wants and because it isn’t real, it means nothing?

Then you read the book, and it’s the same stuff. He’s gaslighting her. He’s pushing her into decisions that are too soon. He’s mean and toxic. And the author just throws in a “it’s kind of turning me on” to make you believe the female MC likes it.

But who am I to complain when I’ve read freaking SEVEN of these. It’s embarrassing.

Loving the Mountain Man

Cody and Betty

Here we are with the final Barnett brother finding his forever. This whole series has been enjoyable with over the top crazy possessiveness. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea as you can read all about it in the reviews for each book. I'm glad I didn't allow any of those to sway my opinion on reading these. Each brother was sweet and very loving. Doing everything to take care of their women. I'd definitely recommend reading these and seeing for yourself.

2.5 stars -I LOVED how Gemma was trying to go in a different direction with this one- I had always wondered what would happen if a Barnett caveman found his woman.....only to realize she was already with another! AH- the possibilities were endless, and I felt like it would bring out a heavier woo (which it did) and more angsty story (also did) with some delicious character connection since our man can't exactly claim her (this, not so much). While I loved the concept and appreciated a deviation from the formula, this is sadly not my favorite of the series (and perhaps may be be the least), which is such a shame because I was so excited for the finale and I LOVED Cody in prior books. But, I felt like we had a lot of meandering and shenanigans that didn't add much and we got a story without much substance or actually developed chemistry (and yes, I get it's insta-love, she's mine toxic caveman trope- but the others have had real chemistry). In the end there was little endearing about either of these characters. Betty was overly stubborn and inconsistent as a character- like all that hemming and ha'ing and lying to just roll over. ANd Cody lost a lot of his charm when he felt like he needed to steamroll her. What I've loved about this is that while the guys are utterly RIDICULOUS, at times toxic, and super controlling- they are also really swoony in the way they worship and claim their gals, and there was very little about Cody and Betty's dynamic that had me swooning once they actually got together. Perhaps it's because Cody felt betrayed and we had a Barnett with more anger than we've had before or perhaps it's because he got his swoon out early, but honestly I missed the sweetness and affection- it felt like grumpy for too much of the story and when we finally get to them being together it all just happened so fast without any of the good stuff I love about this series. And, Betty just didn't win me over either- and I wish we'd had some actual content that felt more real with her and her sister. But, I loved the moments we had with our past couples, and this series is still my go to guilty pleasure- I still need my head examined, but it's been fun.
