Cute, fun, and a quick read! It’s cheesy and at times silly and a really enjoyable way. I thought Misery (lol) and Lowe’s relationship was really nice and I could see that they really respected and cared for one another. I loved the little snippets we got from Lowe in the beginning of every chapter.
I didn’t really understand the reason for Lowe’s internal conflict and wanting to hide the truth from Misery. It definitely felt a bit shoe-horned in just to cause the expected third act break up. I’d still highly recommend though.

I honestly thought this book would end up being my favorite by Hazelwood, since I love stories about vampires and werewolves, but I was thoroughly disappointed.
I wanted to like the characters, but I couldn't look past how bland they were. I thought Misery was funny, but I didn’t like her as the main character. It felt like she was just as ignorant about everything going on around her as the reader. Which, you know, understandable given her upbringing, but at times it felt like she was just there to ask questions so that reader could get up to speed with all the lore and political turmoil between vampires, werewolves and humans. And then Lowe, Lowe was just what you’d expect from a werewolf: loyal, protective possessive…etc. Not to say I don’t like said traits in a character but, I wish there had been more to uncover.
And since I didn't really vibe with the characters, the romance also fell flat for me.
The story itself was slow, and boring at times. A lot of the bigger plot twists were left for the last quarter of the book, with little to no foreshadowing. There was also a lot of back and forth about vampire and werewolf facts. I would have much preferred to see a lot of the stuff that was relayed to Misery through conversations to have been incorporated into that story in some way, but that wasn’t the case.
I could go on, but I’ll leave it there. Idk if I’ll read the sequel that is most definitely coming, unfortunately…
