dark mysterious reflective sad

I suspect this book is excellent, but for some reason I never completely connected with it. That given...My favorite character was Charlotte, who is colorblind, and the subject of colorblindness is artfully woven throughout the book. The overarching concern is about complicity, and the choices people make under pressure. I may want to read this again sometime, as it might be a case of reading an excellent book at the wrong time...when I was overly distracted.

beautiful writing style, though at times it seemed like it was trying a little over hard to be literary. i really enjoyed the cast of characters but the timeline was just too convoluted for me. it seemed kind of like charlotte was pregnant for like 4 years? was that just me? beautifully written book but could have been better.
