One of the very few books that I could not write a review for; it simply doesn’t feel right to do so. Instead, I will say that this is perhaps one of the most touching texts I’ve ever read. Everyone knows the end before the beginning, yet it is truly something to get to know this young girl who is famous worldwide for her firsthand account and, in a sense, her death. Reading her diary reminds us of the horrors of war and that the true losers and victims of any war are the children. Those who’ve had their lives snatched and their hope destroyed, the innocents of the world. It was so hard to witness Anne as her hopes soared with the development of the war while knowing that she would not see the end. Anne wanted to become a writer, and while her dreams were cut short, in some way, her wishes were made true; today, she’s one of the most famous people of the 20th century.
I would love to say that everyone should read this diary as a reminder of the horrors of war, but I cannot due to the many negative reviews and the fact that some people struggle to read journals. However, if you read this book, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Always a painful read but frightening in new ways to read this in 2025. Finished the book two days after what would have been her birthday and mourning her loss again. A remarkable young lady with such thoughts and dreams... May her memory be a blessing.

During adolescence, this poignant book left a lasting impression on me with its moving and sad narrative. This true story laid bare the harsh realities of our world with sensitivity and accuracy, while also grappling with what it means to be in the teenage years. The raw truth emanating from children's voices struck me most profoundly, revealing an unfiltered insight into this period.
