Very good. The premise of the book is changing yourself in a relationship rather than the other person, with other great principles baked in.

READ THIS!!! That about sums it up. This book is a must read for anyone. If you are in a relationship (I don't mean romantic, I mean if you have relations with anyone) then you must read this book. It unravels how the human heart works and why we do the things we do and what effect that has on our relationships and consequently our lives. Please read this, I now it will touch whoever does, it's that good.

A good book on how to be a peacemaker, although the story gets a little long after awhile.

Read this with a friend because we are both big fans of “Leadership and Self-Deception”, and this is the sequel. It uses a lot of the same themes to analyze the source of conflict in the family, workplace, and even between countries. I liked the original better, but I definitely enjoyed this one as well. It makes you more mindful of the ways in which self-deception prevents us from addressing the root cause of interpersonal conflict.

This book was absolutely amazing!!!!! I cried twice! Everyone needs to read this, it was life changing. The principles and strategies they teach for conflict resolution and “way of being” are so true, and have already made a difference in how I see the people around me.

Read it, read it, read it!!

A wonderful book for guiding a heart at war toward peace. The real meat of the book is in the diagrams - the boxes of "I am better," "I deserve," "I need to be seen as" and "I am worse" that we put ourselves in, before we even come in contact with another human being, can completely alter our way of being with them and in turn the way we deal with conflict. I also appreciated the Peacemaking Pyramid, which shows that having a heart at peace unencumbered by these "boxes" is the strongest foundation we have in influencing others for good.

My one complaint (and it seems this is pretty universal among reviewers) is the format. I think narratives can be a powerful tool if used correctly, but in this book it felt contrived and artificial - like the author (or institute?) is saying "ok, this is how you should feel and react to this" at each step of the process. A bit patronizing at times. Still, it's a great book to keep on the shelf for future re-reading (at least of the second half).
