Maeve Binchy's books are like mashed potatoes or chocolate cake or a soft warm blanket on a winter night--something I can reliably turn to for comfort. I love settling into her scenes and getting to know her characters and hearing the Irish accent that flows through her writing.

By using multiple points of views, she is able to show different facets of her characters. We see their faults and virtues through different lenses and that blurs the lines between the two and sometimes one becomes the other.

All in all, a very nice read for dark December.

Longer than it needed to be, but I got wrapped up. Didn't care for the ending, but still liked it overall.

Echoes contains the minutiae of everyday life spanning 12 years. If that doesn’t grip you it is also a detailed travel guide to a fictional Irish town. It had enough of a story to keep me reading to the end but it was an exercise in patience.

I love Maeve Binchy. Having never been to Ireland, I feel like I know the country and the people just from reading her books. This is a great read. well worn mass media paperback.

I enjoy Maeve Binchy’s writing style, and she is a wonderful storyteller, her books hold you spellbound. She writes about the everyday lives and loves of her characters.
Echoes is another polished story by the talented Binchy.
I want to thank NetGalley, Random House UK, Cornerstone and author Maeve Binchy for a copy of this book to review.

Maeve Binchy can surely write a story full of emotions and gripping, this one is no exception.
I loved this Irish family saga, the well thought characters and the great storytelling.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

I have mixed feelings about the book, it is a very good period piece and the setting is superb. The romance on the other hand, is first very slow (which is fine), then very enjoyable to read, and then it becomes very painful to read about these characters that you used to love but anymore :(
