A delightful collection of poets from one of the most overlooked American poets of the mid-century. Frank O'Hara becomes a close friend in his poems, and the reader becomes his confidant. We hear his musings on modern art, on the movies, on burgeoning queer love, on his favorite meal (lunch), and on everything else. Although not quite the shock that Meditations in an Emergency was, personally, the poems call the reader back, and reward your time and attention.

Some of the poems are beautiful - he's clearly a gifted poet. Didn't care massively for some of the commentary on race and travel - feel like it's more than dated.

I am absolutely in love with this collection of poetry. It is the kind of poetry that makes me want to write and write better than I ever had. This is the effortless type of poetry that I am willing to talk about in a Modern Poetry class week after week.
