Such a good historical summer read!! I absolutely loved this one! My favorite Elin Hilderbrand book yet.

I really loved this book and the complex characters. I felt like there was some very raw emotions explored especially by Kate and her feelings about her son being deployed in Vietnam. I also loved the Kirby and Darren storyline. Despite the fact there was so many hot topic issues in this book - sexual assault, the Vietnam war, affairs, mental health, biracial relationships, suicide, alcoholism, feminism, anti-semitism, white privilege, historical references- all in the summer of 1969, I still felt the book remained light enough to enjoy it but deep enough to have a small understanding.
