This is essentially the German version of Perfection. It captures the life of a German long distance couple (Frankfurt- Berlin) in 2018. He is 36, she 30. I found both very boring and weirdly too much into drugs for no apparent reason. I also found them relatively arrogant, not very mature and not introspective enough. But the book definitely captures living in Germany as a young person from a middle class background in 2018 super well - in the most standard and mainstream way. There is nothing creative to the choices of the characters. They go to the most stereotypical bars to go to. They are the absolute mainstream in its worst way. Except the drugs. They should only be smoking weed regularly and not doing LSD or MDMA every 2nd/3rd week. It is also completely unclear what the educational background of the characters is. With their jobs they could literally be anyone - so I guess the boring mainstream.
I didn’t feel attacked by the descriptions like in Perfection. They felt factually right and fair. Maybe a bit to standard but I guess that was the whole point of the book. Maybe an interesting book to reread in the future because it’s is kind of a time capsule.

But I found it BORING. So only 2 stars
