This was extremely unhinged, so dark, and unapologetically graphic. Readers, beware! That being said, I did “enjoy” this for what it was. This was surprisingly funny, and I found myself really enthralled with the first half of the story. The latter half and ending lost me a little. It almost took on a fever dream quality, which at times got confusing. I also felt like the end was rushed.

i think the author might’ve just really wanted to write about gory murder and decided the victorian setting was aesthetically pleasing enough to get away with it without seeming like an insane person

The reviews I’d read of Victorian Psycho all seemed to agree that it was so disturbing but so good… and that’s exactly how I’d describe it! Genuinely the most gruesome and grotesque book I’ve read, but the mystery and wit kept me so intrigued! Good narration for the audio book.

The author really paints a picture with words. A gruesome, gory picture. I’d call this a quick, lighthearted read if you’re into blood and guts and a main character whose intrusive thoughts always win.
