This book did a great job at subverting expectations. While my reading sessions of this book weren’t very long, I found myself constantly grabbing for it throughout the days I read it. An addicting and endearing main character, a story with twists and turns, and a new fairy tale world to sink our teeth into!

Just like the first book, this one does a great job of portraying LGBTQ+ characters. Most of the LGBTQ+ books I’ve read in the past are a romance book specifically, but this one has a fairly simple romantic subplot. This subplot could’ve felt forced for representation, but yet it came off as very genuine.

At risk of sounding pretentious, both this book along with its predecessor use curse words as an attempt to appeal to an older audience. It’s a little bit annoying to hear our main character swear without reason. I’m not a fan of censorship in books, so while I’m glad the author stuck their writing style in this sequel, I think this could’ve appealed to a wider audience by having the books use of language between a PG-PG13 rating. At the end of the day, it’s up to my own taste and I didn’t think the use of the swear words were necessary.

Overall: 4.5⭐️

I really liked this however, if you haven't read a spindle splintered yet, I advice you to read them back to back.
It was such a long time since I read Spindle, and this book just dove right back in without setting up the world again.
Which is more a me problem than a book problem but just thought I'd recommend that to anyone who hasn't read them yet.

Both books are fun and I love the main characters wit
Can't wait to see what fairytale will be next

I liked the first in the series better, though this is more of the same. The plot and world mechanics are inherently clever (even if I didn't quite understand how the travel worked), and I didn't get the sudden romance either (I guess I got the one in the first book a bit more?). It's an interesting companion to the first though if you want more of the fairytale multiverse. I'd read more if the series gets longer.

Really cute continuation of the Fractured Fables. I loved that it ended with and she lived “happily” not “happily ever after” 🥹
